I always hate it when the tv shows say “burn all the cities” - there are only, SPECIFICALLY, five cities! We only ever saw ONE - Oldtown barely appeared. Gulltown has NEVER been mentioned in dialogue!

Hightower bank? That’s the first time I heard that… interesting
@WorldOfWesteros5 сағат бұрын
if i'm remembering correctly it was set up by Lotho Rogare after the lysene spring and made the Hightowers very rich. They already were, but next level rich. We're not 100% sure if the bank still exists as it's never mentioned in the main books at all, and it's addition to the lore is quite recent. My guess is it's still at thing.

@@WorldOfWesteros That is interesting. I wonder if there any other Banks in Westeros we don't know about. I could imagine the Lannisters having one aswell tbh.

I gotta say HBO should be paying channels like yours cause I find myself losing interest in the HOTD . These long year and half waits between seasons don’t help especially when they’re screwing around yanking episodes from seasons. I know Dunc and Aeg is coming , but it’s a non factor at this point.
@WorldOfWesteros21 сағат бұрын
What's really interesting from a analytics point of view is of course with each season of the show the channel gets a huge boost in views while its on. After HOTD season 1 it took about 4 months for the views to go back down to normal levels. This time with season 2, it took maybe two weeks after season 2 ended. So the show is defiantly not holding interest for a lot of people like it used to. i am very interested to see the impact dunk and egg has this year and if people will turn out for it after the divisive nature of season 2. 2023 was a very hard year for a lot of ASOIAF youtube channels as a whole, the few i've talked with about it all say the same thing. The two year gaps really killed the momentum of the show. I'm not sure Dunk an Egg is gong to be answer everyone thinks it is. I am hyped personally for it but i'm not seeing the enthusiasm from the wider audience house of the dragon had

It is interesting how all of the major cities in Westeros are by the sea. There is no major city inland, so it would be neat to see which spots future cities could arise
@internetalias1613Күн бұрын
Riverrun is perfectly setup to develop into a major inland city, access to trade through rivers and plenty of high quality arable land to support a larger population.

Dunskendale was working up to be a city by the time, but Kings Landing overshadowed it and stagnated its growth, which contributed to the defiance of duskendale
@WorldOfWesteros21 сағат бұрын
I think it's a symptom of George reverse engineering a lot of the lore. By rights given how old it is and how large it grew, Duskendale should be a city, but if Duskendale is a city it makes it harder to justify King's Landing. But for a place the size of westeros it really is odd there is only 5

I feel like Lannisport is so out of the way for Essos. Must take forever to get there.
@WorldOfWesteros5 сағат бұрын
i think it's kinda a trade off. I mean for hundreds of years going through the stepstones was a huge risk or very expensive which makes places like Lannisport a good option, it's safer but takes longer. However why you wouldn't just stop at oldtown, i can't say. Maybe it's the gold and ore from Lannisport that makes the difference
@1597B5 сағат бұрын
I imagine it's a really promising merchantile route. If you have some silks, pottery, or items that you know can sell in Lannisport, it may just be worth the long journey there. For one, you know payment will NOT be a problem, Lannisport is practically overflowing with gold. Two; you can stop at Oldtown on the way and check out the Hightower and buy or sell additional stuff. Three, as WoW replied, it's probably way safer than going through the Stepstones.
