I did something similar! First character, low 20s troll hunter; hadn't actually been to the Eastern Kingdom at this point. @djkiltech24 күн бұрын
This is THE place for Warcraft fans from the RTS games. The only place that gives me the feels more than the plaguelands, and that's the throne room above undercity. If you stand there long enough you'll start to hear the victory bells of the return of Arthas, and you'll hear King Teranes Menithil say "What are you doing?" And Arthas saying "Succeeding you....father." Gave me chills the first time I heard it on my human rogue in vanilla while trying to stealth into undercity. I got ganked because I couldn't stop listening to the audio clips in the throne room and I was only level 40 at the time... Some level 60 Hunter spotted me through my stealth and popped a flare. I didn't last long after that

@djkiltech24 күн бұрын
It's always the human rogue. Same with me, I was huge into the RTS games but I didn't really like the whole "I'm the hero" part of WoW. The story made sense when I'm playing as Arthas, Thrall, etc but to be some hero that can be even more badass than them, but totally locked into one class set of abilities when Arthas was a Paladin/Priest hybrid, etc didn't really sit with me. But then some friends were running Scarlet Monastery over and over and I loved watching it so I made a human rogue. That was the beginning of my end.

Hey! great video once again! The plaguelands is such a central of warcraft lore it is hard to wrap your head around. Holding to this day some of the most significant places and areas in the game, and concentrated this small makes it quite intence... My first time here i got completely overwhelmed by it all and all its stories. Just seeing Uther the lightbringers grave first hand was just a "WOW!!!" moment for me. I can only imagine how long it took to make this story come together like this and in under one hour! Personaly it would take me days to explain it! Best wishes from Sweden!

When I was 17, back when WotLK was out (jfc I'm old), I would stay up until 4am raiding, questing/achievements, and chatting with my guild. Occasionally I'd run out of things to do or get bored, and I'd start googling things. I remember one night I went down a rabbit hole of what we're basically the human proto-kingdoms in the Arathi Highlands (I think? Been a long time since I've played). Anyway, the stuff I read had nothing to do with the game then, and definitely not now. Random human names ruling over random settlements. Tons of history, damn near lost to time

In Stratholme, Arthas did nothing wrong. If Arthas didn't purge the city, Lordaeron would have fallen much sooner.
@derps86902 ай бұрын
...except he murdered people who weren't even infected, people who could have been used to help fight the scourge, and his justification for doing so in the lore is a lot less convincing than it's depicted in game. in the lore, he smells bread being baked from the city, and as a result he just *assumes* everyone was already infected. the bread hadn't even been distributed or consumed yet. to say "well, maybe they did already eat it, and they might have turned!" isn't the greatest argument, either, because everyone arthas killed ended up turning anyway as a result of what he did... so now instead of a few people turning into scourge, an entire city did. clearly he didn't do the right thing because the light abandoned him in the middle of it.
@ttpbroadcastingcompany.44602 ай бұрын
@@derps8690 Here's the thing though: It was the only way to save Lordaeron at the time. "Oh, but everyone who died got raised." Yes. That's what happens when the Scourge inevitably came back to the city once the Lordaeronian military were basically gone. "Oh, but just because the bread might not have-" Arthas saw men turn into Scourge minions in Anderhol mere minutes after arriving there. "Oh, but the Light abandoned him." . The Light abandoned him because of his doubts regarding what he was doing in Stratholme, not the actions themselves. If that were the case, the Scarlet Crusade would not have any Light users at all.
@derps86902 ай бұрын
@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460 you can’t say “it was the only way to save lordaeron at the time” when it literally didn’t help save lordaeron. it helped bring about the downfall of lordaeron by having the second largest city be purged and giving the scourge over 100k new troops, troops that were used to sack the capital later. if you read all the books and read the in game quests or any/all lore relating to the topic, he literally did not have to do it lmao. he easily could have at least *tried* to evacuate as many people as he could, because again, there’s no way the bread had already been distributed to the whole population if it was still in the process of baking when he arrived. it was manpower his kingdom desperately needed to fight the scourge, and instead he just gave it right to them. stratholme was just pure hotheaded stupidity from arthas.
@ttpbroadcastingcompany.44602 ай бұрын
@@derps8690 That's the issue though. The book came AFTER the game came out and feel more like a lazy retcon. If you actually, y'know, played the game, Arthas' entire reasoning for purging Stratholme was sound. The Scourge didn't use Stratholme until AFTER Terenas and much of the Lordaeronian military was already dead. I'll take what Arthas says in the actual GAME over what is said in a book that came after the fact. Also, what other choice was there? Sit for months on end, quarantining the entire city? All that would do is result in the entire city turning into zombies and breaking the morale of those who were sent to guard it.
@derps86902 ай бұрын
@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460 "I'll take what Arthas says in the actual GAME over what is said in a book that came after the fact. " and i don't care what *YOU* will take as fact, i care about what the fact actually is, and the lore in the book is canon whether you like it or not. just because you have some sort of white supremacy mindset that everything *you* say must be the fact and all us lesser beings have to listen to you doesn't mean it's true, especially considering the fact that you couldn't even get the name of the town arthas witnessed people turn undead right... that happened at hearthglen, not andorhal. also, i did play the game... and the vast, overwhelming majority of the people arthas murdered in the game *weren't* infected. his whole motive was "i'm gonna kill these people first before the scourge gets them!" again, because there is literally no way he could have possibly known they were. he could've simply said "hey y'all, don't eat the bread." boom. city saved. instead he went in and killed everybody and just gave the scourge a whole new army, like ner'zhul expected him to.
