Terrific! Love the focus on efficiency and simpler (i.e., less expensive) EVs. And the shift away from “range,” which seems to have become a red herring. Keep the great content coming!

I think it's worth mentioning that the Hyundai ioniq 6 SE has an 18-inch wheel and the SEL loses 60 mi in range upgrading to the 20in wheels. Absolutely an amazing car!!

Glad to see someone focusing on actual EV efficiency. I have a 2022 Kia Niro EV which I love; I get a real world 3.7 miles/kWH (~240 miles+). I’ve driven it on several road trips including twice from Michigan to DC without any issues.

Good efficiency makes every charger faster, all the way down to level 2's and even 120V wall outlets. If you ever drive your EV to a vacation home in the countryside, far from the nearest DC charger, and stay there a few days, this is something that you will really, really appreciate. There are numerous road trips you take to rural areas with poor charging infrastructure which the lowly Bolt is able to do with much less charging time than would be needed in some EVs that have far higher price tags. Not every road trip is city-to-city along the interstate.

Thanks for the shoutout to the original Ioniq Electric! I had a refreshed 2020 model for 2 years in Korea before I came back to the US. I always have to explain that it's not the Ioniq 5 or 6... I just say that it was like the beta version of those models. But it was still such an excellent car ~ I also visited Korea last November and by then the amount of Ioniq 5 and 6 taxis on the road was astounding. I purposely rode an Ioniq 6 for just 2 blocks as someone had just been dropped off right next to me and I couldn't pass up the chance. Short ride in the back seat but really nice and comfortable, and the taxi driver loved it.

Good video. I bought my '23 Bolt euv Lt as a commuter only, but it turns out I really like it. In the summer I often see over 5miles/kwh, though without a heat pump, I've seen down to 3.0 in the winter. What really surprises me is how comfortable and well built the Bolt is; there are no creaks/rattles or wind noise, and it just feels solid. Well done Orion Lake assembly. The slow charging is annoying, but I"m hoping it makes the battery last longer. I'm liking the styling of the Ioniq 6 more and more; it looks like a sleek european sedan.

My 2022 Tesla Model 3 performance has 340 miles of range (4.6 mi/kWh @65+mph continuously). Achieved this by getting rid of the 20-in Uberturbine wheels and sticky tires and getting some 19-in aftermarket Aero wheels and some low-rolling resistance tires. I have proved my car gets that range multiple times in videos on my channel 🐍😎

@tjs114
@tjs114 9 ай бұрын
Don't forget that Aptera isn't a car- it's an autocycle so it doesn't have to meet the crash and safety requirements. It also is limited to a total load of 500 pounds - people plus stuff. Also good luck getting it insured to a level where you can actually repair it; because an autocycle will insure like a motorcycle and rarely are fairings covered, so the entire body of an autocycle is classified as 'fairing'.

You know, it would be a real service to the tens of thousands living in the SouthWest, including a lot of Texas, before summer's over and range test a used 2019 Nissan Leaf SL while it's still over 110 degrees. I'm curious if the car shuts off (that's the rumor) when internal temperatures get so hot and you've no choice but to stop driving it until the evening, (this car on specs is the best value for a late model EV you can find under 18,000 but I fear many are buying this car and walking into a trap, not knowing the car is largely unusable in the summer months in many major cities.

Tesla is the most efficient in the real world as well. I have a lifetime average of 5.4mi/kwh (0.186kwh/mi) nothing else gets close except maybe the Ioniq 6 with 18" wheels RWD. That's better than EPA std. 50% freeway (70mph) and 50% city. Not hypermiling. Mild Climate. Here's a screenshot to prove it. i.imgur.com/FsiDjYm.jpg

Please stop using mpge - just use kWh per 100 miles, a metric people understand in terms of cost.
@Charles_Gaba
@Charles_Gaba 9 ай бұрын
Flip it around-miles per kWh is the closest equivalent to MPG.
@barryw9473
@barryw9473 9 ай бұрын
@@Charles_Gaba you are welcome to flip it. I find it more meaningful to know how many kWh I use on my electricity bill per range of the car. I pay for electricity on a kWh basis so it makes sense to measure efficiency in kWh per 100 miles or 100 km.
@amperformance7998
@amperformance7998 9 ай бұрын
@@Charles_Gaba also, kWh/100 is a linear measure, while mi(km)/kWh is not. Meaning that as you increase the mi(km)/kWh number, the actual difference in consumption drops. The difference in consumption between 2mi/kWh and 3mi/kWh is much greater than it is between 4 and 5. The kWh/100 measure, however, is linear, so you get a clearer picture of how two vehicles compare. For example; 2mi/kWh = 50kWh/100mi 3mi/kWh = 33kWh/100mi Difference is 17kWh 4mi/kWh = 25kWh/100mi 5mi/kWh = 20kWh/100mi Difference is only 5kWh So if you only look at the mi(km)/kWh number, you may see a huge difference and choose the more efficient car. But if you look at the kWh/100 number, you will see the difference is in reality much smaller, leading you to choose the less efficient car that is more practical, or cheaper, or more comfortable, or you just like better.
@TB-up4xi
@TB-up4xi 9 ай бұрын
@@amperformance7998 I think most reasonable people appreciate that 3mi/kwh is 50% more efficient than 2mi/kwh and 5mi/kwh is 25% more efficient than 4mi/kwh. But then again.... McDonalds tried advertising a 1/3rd pounder for the price of a 1/4 pounder for a while and the average McDonalds customer was too numerically challenged to understand that that was a good deal, so maybe this is safer.

I see you guys are harping on cadilac but please give credit to GM for creating car for each segment from BOLT to Escalade…. Bolt, blazer, equinox, hummer, Silverado, lyriq, Celesticq and Escalade…. GM does not get enough credit for creating vast range of vehicle but critize for making Escalade. Escalade is it for everyone, just like model x is not everyone. Hack no one was criticizing tesla for charging 130k for model x. Escalade is twice the car of model X for $130k.

Having a 200kw battery in the Cadillac is bonkers… it’s def debatable whether it’s good to spend that many batteries to avoid a gas 3 row on the road… I can see it both ways but think the gm lineup is their strategy to ramp large amounts of batteries up front w their factory… unfortunately it is not going as smoothly as planned

We’re not criticizing it - merely offering this to folks who don’t need that much SUV and want a cheaper car that goes further with less energy. Ultium is cool and it’s nice to see it being used in all kinds of segments. I hope GM optimizes and sorts efficiency where possible over time.

@@iMaxPatten it’s great that you are bringing awareness of this efficiency number to your audience. I love to watch your videos . They are informative. My issue is that lots of people on KZbin and twitter criticize one company but give pass to the other. I know sometime it’s the audience you caters to and don’t want to offend them… For example, video didn’t want to bring lucid in to conversation even though it’s the best efficient car because of the cost but on the other hand bring Escalade in the conversation for being least efficient even though it’s not in the same prices points to the other cars…..

At some point people should realise that range is not really that important in your daily life but efficiency is the cost of driving every single day! Please stop saying MPGe, that's just stupid relating back to fossil numbers!! If people bought gas cars as they buy EVs they would buy a V8 with the biggest fuel tank...

I think you guys could really do better without being in the car for the whole thing and having those sunglasses on. You talked an awful lot and tended to use insider specific lingo (not everyone will get super deep into usable battery amounts), which makes it more of a chore to listen than enjoyable. I probably won't watch another car list or car review video just based off how difficult it was to really pay attention for the information I actually care about (Price, Range, Charging). Wishing you guys good luck.
