Soccer has so many violent rivalries...Argentina is the most famous place for it. Boca Juniors vs River Plate is one of those you have to buy a life insurance before attending the game. One of the match is not really a rivalry historically but worth noting: Dinamo vs Red Star. This is one of the fuse which started a bloody Yugoslavia civil war. One of the hooligan leader, Arkan, became a warlord after the match.

Come on really? I've been a Sox fan and grew up watching the 2000s rivalry and hating the Yankees. The rivalry was heated then and there were some big fights, especially with arod, and big games (ALCS 2003 and 2004), but the teams have massive respect for one another, especially now. The best player on each team, Jeter and Ortiz, were both praised by the other's team during their final years and that doesn't happen with teams on this list. I would say they're one of the greatest rivalries, but not one of the most violent.

I was genuinely surprised that Pacers vs Pistons wasn't on this list. Yes, the top of the heap should be reserved for the violent soccer hooligans in other countries; no argument there. But Bengals vs Steelers cheap shots simply can't compare to the genuine riot that erupted in the Palace of Auburn Hills in 2004, probably the ugliest event in American sports history. Then at the next Pacers game in Detroit, the game had to be delayed because of bomb threats. So I think as far as U.S. sports is concerned, that one's definitely the most violent.

In Brazik we have a called "clássico" (how we call those rivalries) between Vasco x Flamengo, both teams from Rio de Janeiro, but have supports all over the country. The country stops when those teams play each other, since there are 50 million fans involved (25% of football fans in Brazil), families with suppoters from both sides dont watch together, the city is crowded with police to avoid Vasco and flamengo fans to meet each other. So i think its a really big rivalry 😂😂 Nice video anyway
