I'm a Beginer Sound-Engineer, Why a Lot Of People Use Condenser Microphones In Front Of Guitar Cube..? What's The Difference With Direct Recording..?
@Projectstudiohandbook8 жыл бұрын
Every combination of mic, cab and amp produces a different tone. There are no rules to getting a great tone (whatever a great tone is!). Unless we want to copy something somebody else did in the past, we can just experiment. Condenser mic have a different frequency response to dynamics. DI recording has many advantages but a real amp and cab produces an audio experience that inspires many guitarists. Also, there is a tactic feedback relationship between pickups and amp that software and DI can't reproduce. In creative music making anything goes. If we like it we should go for it!

can you please provide the waveforms of distorted sounds ,fuzz,waah etc?
@Projectstudiohandbook8 жыл бұрын
Interesting request Gagan. May we ask why you want such images? Have you got an idea of how they might help someone to understand sound theory?

Distortion is a fascinating subject as there are many kinds of distortion. (Distortion is really a very general term.) As it is best to mix with your ears pictures may help in describing what the different types of distortion are since hearing the difference can be difficult (especially on KZbin). There is distortion from clipping, saturation, harmonic, soft clipping etc. I've wondered about distortion from compression. I gather it is from imperfections of the process rather that from compression in a pure sense.

Great comment Scott. Waveform images showing the effect of fuzz on a sound should be easy to see, but we agree it might be challenging to identify the differences between the waveforms of a compressed and uncompressed sound in terms of the harmonic distortion, saturation or soft clipping alone, especially if the compression is gentle. As you say "distortion" is merely a wave shape difference between input and output. Clearly distortion can result from design or component imperfection (often intentional) but also we think from "micro compression" artefacts that happen within the time scales of small numbers of cycles. It might help explain why some compressors produce a "magical" effect that is difficult to describe purely in terms of compression. What do you think?

please provide the circuit diagrams of how these distortion waves are produced..for softcipping,total harmonic distortion etc...I just wanted to know how they are produced..

For the circuit diagrams of how different types of distortion are produced you would need to ask an audio electronics designer.
