Cloud Taste Metallic is still their best album. So uplifting and catchy and crooked. I miss Drozd being a fulltime drummer. He’s so awesome.

I'll take Ronald over Derek or Jake any day of the week. Those lads are okay but during some songs when they were the only guitarists, it's interesting because Jake would be thrashing at his Jaguar like crazy but barely anything was coming out. Made me think they're at least very buried in the mix to fill out sound.

It seems like Ronald’s family has said not to press the issue anymore as well, maybe suggesting he has a mental health condition. I always assumed he may have been under some contractual obligation and hence why he never did a solo thing or new band. I would love to hear a raw session of his. Sadly it may never happen

Matt Hilgers Yes! This was the last time they played it before Ronald’s departure and it’s really the ultimate version. It was a pretty good song on Priest but Ronald took it to another level over the years. I like watching them continue to add bits to this song between 92 to 96.

Steven looking up to Michael in the first couple minutes was so sweet and uplifting 😊. Steven looked up to Michael and Wayne in the late 80s and early 90s and fate brought them together as one great American psychedelic rock band!!! The greatest of all time!!! In my humble opinion.

Espen Daniel Hagen Olsen Wow, that must have been quite the experience! Out of curiosity, I noticed there were seemingly camera men filming the show from the side stage. Do you remember if they were being displayed on any big screens or were there filming for TV? If you know anything about any higher quality coverage of this please let me know!

Just info from one interview though

Lonn Phillips yes. I asked them about it at a show in 2016 and they said they were still trying to get in touch with Ronald Jones. As far as I know they never filmed Ronald, but if they did that’s awesome and I hope it sees the light of day. There’s something of a Ronald renaissance happening with more and more people coming out of the woodwork saying how much they love his guitar work. I’m a guitar player myself and he’s hands down my number 1 inspiration. My life goal is to be able to play every lips song of this era like he can. I’ll never be able to do it just like him, but I can get close. I’m usually not into tribute bands but to me this era of the lips is so special and deserves remembrance and I’d join a tribute band in a heart beat.

@@tastyslopsicle2162 let's do one! I play guitar too and have loved his guitar tone, his effects and the mind-blowing ways his fingers are generating 98% of the tone, even with pedals on. Steven paid so much attention to his pedal setup so he can try to reenact his crazy ring modulating / delay-ridden slides on the intro to Psychiatric Explorations or whatever they're looking for to do from that era. Really wish I was taken to a Lips show at the age of 5 in 1995 to see them play. So many children are being taken to Lips shows right now & i'm jealous, wish my parents had done that in the mid 90s!!! I would love to do a tribute band. I can also play drums (I've got a Steveny-Bonhamy-Kliph type big sound), keyboards & bass
