FOLLOW UP: Good call on the Pladra, Carl! Just received my 3 shirt order. The packaging stood out most to me. Each shirt was folded and wrapped like I haven't seen in over 20 years. Great fabrics. Very well constructed (my step-father owned a mens specialty clothing store for many years.) Great colors, too. My only con is that they are cut for a more athletic body than my old man body. Raising my arms yields the body of the shirt getting caught on my old man man-boobs! But the sleeve length is very generous. I'm quite happy with my purchase! Fast shipping and a follow-up email with a generous discount code for the next purchase. Thanks Carl!!

looking at ordering some, and reading their fit guide... the Large appears to be the right fit, neck and waist... but chest appears small. normally i'm in the 44-46 range... but don't want it to be TOO big. they mentioned shrinkage of fabric baked in IF you do wash it... so not sure if I should try the Large and see if it works... or do the XL and wash it... I always live in the in between of most brands.. rought

I absolutely hate designs on cuffs, just make it plain. I don't understand why companies keep making a good product with the weirdest inner cuffs. It's such a weird thing. I roll my sleeves a-lot so having an ugly design like that just ruins these for me. Rant over lol. Thanks for the great review Carl!

Hahaha fair enough!! The look definitely isn’t for everyone, and honestly I’ll keep the designs hidden too. Not my thing, but I typically keep my sleeves down and buttoned.

WOW! That storm blue Workhorse flannel shirt really caught my eye. Not sure it will work in the reality of the warmer Kansas winters compared to when I was younger. But if there's a way, it's coming home to my house! Thanks Carl! UPDATE: They have some pretty cool patterned short sleave shirts, too. I just went nuts on Pladra long sleave shirts for this winter.

I wear flannel as soon as it cools off. My old nick name at work was plaid Shad. It’s classic and my go to style. Thanks Carl! I will be checking them out. I am thinking of something for work. A blend of office and on site work wear. Good for the white collar crew and something I can wear when I need to jump in and get my hands dirty.

I first heard about them around 2015 in Outside Magazine's winter gear guide issue. The logo sewn above the pocket or on the back shoulder would usually draw more attention then the inside when I wore their shirts. Shortly after they changed it to a tag logo which was kinda disappointing. I saw they added a fishing shirt surprisingly. Any upcoming content with more lightweight or summer clothes?

As an English person there are several archetypes of American men’s clothing, top of the list of course is Western wear, cowboy hats wrangler jeans and cowboy boots but a very close second ( for me as I spent a lot of my Twenties with the advent in the eighties of satellite TV in England watching This Old House!) comes a flannel shirt and LL Bean Duck boots. A few years earlier it would have been Thomas Magnums floral shirt! I will not mention the Bahama shorts and loud check shirts of the seventies beloved of those living in more Southern climes of the USA🤢🧐😁

@@CarlMurawski what was incredible for me was back then I drove a cab in the small seaside town in Devon I lived in. One day I picked up an older couple and we got to chatting and they said they were on holiday but lived in New England. I replied how much I loved a show called This Old House and asked if they were familiar with it? They replied they should be as their son Russell Morash had created it! Remember, this was not London but a tiny town in Devon, I was flabbergasted! They took my name and address and a month later a huge box arrived by post, it contained a lovely note from Russell, signed photos of the cast, T-shirt, Mug and a copy of the magazine and a two year subscription to it! I was an even bigger fan after that. I loved The New Yankee Workshop as well! I have had things like that happen a few times in life. I decide to spend a long weekend in New York for my thirtieth birthday in late November 1993, we used to get the Today Show a day later on Sky TV in England and I decided to start my birthday by walking up to the studio and try to stand in the crowd outside the studio windows and hope someone would ask where I was from, these were the Katie and Bryant days. Sure enough I was asked and said I had flown over from England and that it was my thirtieth birthday. It ended up Bryant and Katie came out and with the crew and crowd sang happy birthday to me on national TV! I was a star for a day in New York for the rest of the day with people who had watched the show shouting happy birthday to me wherever I went, one of the best memories of my life!

Sorry to her about your Dad Brother. After jeans and t shirts, flannels are best thing a man can wear. I wouldn’t work in these, because of the art work. But sitting back, next to the camp fire, sleeves rolled up, whisky, and lyin to your mates. Perfect!

Thanks bro, it's bittersweet. He actually wore a flannel similar to this green one like a jacket, he just left it near the door and would throw it on to head out for the day. Interesting fellow- he raised an abandoned deer fawn, rode a 1981 Yamaha motorcycle, and would sip on the same giant mug of coffee all day.

These look really nice. Over the winter i got the "Ultimate Flannel" from the bass pro shop house brand Redhead. It has been pretty good and comes in tall sizes. It was only like $25 so not in the same ballpark but would be squarely in the good category of good, better, best. They also make some decent Henley shirts that come in tall sizes too. Id presume its all made in china but it was a good starting point and was the right price.
@CarlMurawski
@CarlMurawski 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I have a Redhead flannel from some years ago. The only issue I have is that it’s really short, like just past my belt buckle short. Maybe it’s designed to be worn untucked, is yours the same way?
@Robbajohn
@Robbajohn 2 жыл бұрын
@@CarlMurawski Im not sure about the regular sizing but the tall is quite long. Im 6'3" and it almost needs to be tucked in because it covers over my pockets even with the bit of a notch in the side. Although, the sleeves are long enough for my 6'5" wingspan in the XLT and when i put my arms above my head my gut doesnt show. The henley is more or less the same too so the sizing is pretty consistent in the talls. Not enough clothing is made in a tall or boots in wide sizes so its nice to find a brand with decent quality and the right size.

In all shirts I prefer a square cut hem rather than tails, as I seldom tuck them in. It appears that these shirts are almost square, with just a nod to tails. In the future, please mention the hem design or make sure we can see it. As usual, excellent video about stuff I actually do buy and wear.

Really looking forward to your flannel roundup. Here are some brands that I'm interested in hearing about: Amazon Essentials, Uniqlo, Wrangler, Duluth Trading, Outdoor Research, Vermont, Everlane, Howler Brothers, Levis, LL Bean, Taylor Stitch, Ralph Lauren, Filson, Bonobos, Penfield, United by Blue, Fjallraven, Patagonia, Buck Mason, Grayers, Marine Layer, Flint and Tinder, American Giant, Woolrich, Proper Cloth, Pendleton. Of course I don’t expect you to personally try all of these. I can’t personally afford the expensive brands like Iron Heart, 3Sixteen, Real McCoys, Studio D’Artisan etc. But of course they will be mentioned. I’m more interested in what’s the best thing I can get for between $50-$150. If there’s really something that’s worth the money in the mid-range, I’ll buy it, but if not, what’s the point really. Just buy Amazon or Uniqlo. You know? As far as I can tell LL Bean seems like a good option in the mid-range.

How is movement in the shoulder and chest areas? My biggest issue with Dixon and some other manufacturers is that they look great while you are standing or sitting but when you actually start to move and work they are tight across the shoulders. It doesnt matter if its a large or xl.
