The arrival phase of a documentary that aired in 2000 on Discovery channel, written, produced and directed by Barry Davis is now here for you to watch. This video is uploaded for educational purposes only and is not intended as a copyright. The documentary takes place on an Air Canada Boeing 767-300ER going from Toronto-Frankfurt as AC876. The aircraft was C-FMWU which is now flying for Air Canada Rouge. Enjoy this video! Make sure to subscribe for the next episodes!

An in depth documentary. I was impressed to see the Nav Canada Challenger aircraft being used for testing of the GPS WAAS system. These Flight Inspection aircraft, (models vary - a popular aircraft is the Kingair B200) are used to calibrate every ILS worldwide every 180 days (or sometimes every 120 days) . The VOR mentioned in part 1 are also checked using these aircraft. Their crews are also some of the unseen folk of the civil aviation system and I am so pleased to see them included in this great documentary.

I'm watching this just a few weeks after Airbus announced the ceasing of production of the A380. I didn't know Boeing made this prediction of the decline of the super jumbo that long ago!

Boeing did not see the decline of their own flagship jumbo jet as well. The A380 never failed it is a remarkable achievement in aviation ,just the time was not right .. the superjumbo will be back when the time is right again .. may be when some other form of efficient fuel is there

Years ago, I flew on a USAIRWAYS Boeing 767 from my native Stockholm, Sweden to Philadelphia. That was almost a 10 hour flight. However, I flew first class so I didn’t care! We must have had a very strong headwind because I can clearly remember the captain saying approximate flying time of 9 hours and 25 minutes.

Thank you for such an interesting and informative video. I was generally aware of the complicated process involved in getting a plane from N. America to Europe but I had no idea of the uncertainties and randomness of certain aspects of such a flight: for example the first-come-first-served nature of securing a position on a flight path that I had presumed was all but guaranteed by the initial flight plan. Similarly, I had no idea that as many as 500 flights would be vying for air space across the Atlantic on any given night. Your video serves to emphasize the skill and competence of the air traffic controllers who handle such an enormous task. Otherwise we would be reading about many other air fatalities in the news.

Well done and very interesting. A bit dated but that's good. Sort of like a little history lesson. The 380 was coming into its own. Now because of the pandemic they're being scrapped. Interesting how the queen of the Skies lasted for almost 50 years. A380 lasted for about 15. Thanks for your effort much appreciated.

We always landed freight DC-8 with all four engines on idle from 350 altitude...just like a glider(at night, of course with no other traffic!) Which was 80% of the time! One time, I asked gallons and morons loaded liters(In the USA!)...I thought the gages were stuck but after TO, I had to see I was short, so I just landed again and loaded the needed fuel!

75 passengers on a 200+ seated 767; 37.5% load factor, big money loser. Air Canada has become much more aggressive fare wise often having the lowest fares from Phoenix to Europe via Toronto. I’m sure that such load factor are a thing of the past. I like the airline much more than I did in the past after Canadian and Canadian Pacific folded and they were the only game in the country. CP was a fine airline, very PA friendly.

Bobby Paluga For this flight Air Canada warned passengers during booking that there would be a film crew on board, unfortunately many of the passengers wanted to fly in peace and not be on TV so Air Canada sold out every other flight to Frankfurt from Toronto that day and people even took other routes to avoid AC876 on the night of filming. Considering that Air Canada received the massive publicity I don’t think they minded losing money on this flight. However you’re right, with more competition in the skies recently, all airlines operate on a much more competitive and aggressive fare system which is often computer generated. It would be interesting to repeat this documentary in this day and age to see what the differences in travel would be.
