Always amazed me how long it took to enclose the cockpit, just being out of that endless harsh wind would be a massive improvement and so easy to do.

Let's just appreciate that a Vickers Vimy is a barely destructible craft, massive, stable, yes slow, but tough as nails. And it's powered by Rolls Royce Eagles, Eagles, that later way past WW2 powered tanks and armored cars and was eventually developed into the Merlin and all it's siblings. The Eagle was bullet proof as long as you made sure she has oil and fuel. It just keeps running forever.

STATIONED AT PATRICK USAF BASE , I seen every shuttle flight for three years ending in 1986. The day the CHALLENGER SPOOGED. MY last day on the base. On to Greece for me. Working communications we had a number of circuits dealing with them. Amazing Machine the thing was. Too costly and way over complicated it was. 9he hell of a machine.
