I've been using floats forever. But, I had never heard of floats made for a certain weight until your videos. I've been researching them, their is a lot more to a float than most people think!

Hi Capt Dave...Mike here. I like the loop under the float. Kind of a mini 'Bimini twist' effect, as well as, great for securing the rig for transport. Flopping floats and sinkers at the top of a rod are a MAJOR pet peeve of mine whether in a rod holder or hanging out the rear window of a station wagon! (I have my own slightly different solution, but similar.) Further, I noticed your You Tube ad on your truck the other day while running the Huskies (Yeah, I'm just the other side of yer neighbor Tom) and decided to check it out. Great channel! Very informative!

Hi neighbor. Yeah all winter long till about end of April, all I do is Float-rig fish. Its a art form in my book. Using braid has made for many easy ways to make the whole system more and more light tackle'ish. From Tarpon to giant Sheepshead, we've caught it all on the traditional way to fish live shrimp in SE Georgia & NE Florida. But as the years have past, along with the destruction of the river, the effectiveness out there has made it now only worth doing in the winter time, , "for me". Damn is this a OLD VIDEO. I have a lot newer Float-rig video's.

Love float fishing too. A bottom bite is exciting, but not like seeing the float go streaking and then disappear. Having grown up way out Heckscher Dr (before the days of size & bag limits) the river was very productive. Unfortunately bout the only exposure I get to the river (and offshore) these days is playing music on the Casino boat a couple times a week...and they don't allow fishing! Ha! I watched a number of your vids this morning and saw some of the newer ones you refer to... All good stuff! Also liked the reviews on reels, rods, etc.

everything in its place and there's a place for everything.....!!! Found baitcasting Low Pro reels to be a maintenance nightmare for me. NOW? Daiwa Saltist 20HC's. Love them.

I'm guessing that you just make a little bit larger loop for the Daiwa Saltist 20HC, but totally doable. I got the pictures today from my brother. Y'all got on some good fish today!!! Solid trout!! And, i have never cook up a Sheepshead, but i hear that they are good eating!! I need to schedule me a little time on the JettyWOLF. I need a tutorial on vertical jigging and some of that float rigging!!!

Loose lead on a boat... Hell I saw someone on Heckscher with rods sticking out the passenger window and a big 3 or 4oz pyramid weight swinging around! Wish I was there to watch the window shatter...

Lol yeah I just realized I responded to a video from 2012. I'm brushing up on fishing info, prepping to get the boat back on the water because it's 80 in Feb.

Why not just make a dropper loop.that way you don’t have to cut off the line.
