This strangely highlights the beauty of the original composition. You almost made an acoustic sounding instrument out of electronica. Bravo!
@crestfallensunbro60015 жыл бұрын
I think it technically is acoustic? Because it's making the sound mechanically as opposed to creating an electrical signal which gets converted to sound
@KuraIthys5 жыл бұрын
Well, that's all a bit of a red herring at this level, considering that you a speaker is needed to convert electricity to sound, which works by vibrating a cone with a magnet (eg, that's a mechanical movement at the end) Floppy drives use stepper motors, but hard drives typically use voice coils (these are called voice coils because they're basically the same as what's inside a speaker/microphone) So... Yeah. It all gets really muddy at that level...

It's probably a one time initial effort to build all the libraries for the communication between these drives. Once that's done, he/she could probably just feed the notes in and let it play as defined.
@eddiehimself4 жыл бұрын
It would certainly be a lot of work setting the seek/printer heads to play the right pitches and programming the interface to feed the right data to the hardware. But once you've done that you could basically just write the songs like you're doing them on TuxGuitar or something. In fact you probably could use TuxGuitar if you set it up to play MIDI files lol.
@ravidelia88644 жыл бұрын
@@eddiehimself Probably the biggest issue would be interfacing, and I wouldn't be shocked if there's already a python library out there to handle it. After that a few sample pitches could be measured, and a best fit curve found. Boom, pretty much all done from there.
