When we sheet mulch, after we lay down the cardboard, we wet it down, which helps it to lay flatter and keeps the compost on it better, then we apply compost over this wet cardboard.

When you are prepping your raises needs either remove the grass or put down cardboard to another the grass. Another prob is to staple ground cover material to the bottom which prevents tough grasses growing up in your beds. To help with watering at COARSE grade vermiculite to that soil mixture. It'll hold water and make it available to your plants in-between waterings. The Farmer's Wife
