Just bought 2 of these. I had tidals with all kinds of mods to them to do what I needed and threw them out after installing these.

@@skepticalaquatics new ones for sure. so so quiet compared to Tidal's and nice to have square basket. The blue adjustment against the tank was always comeing off when trying to adjust it or move it. PIA. But it's in the trash now.

Looks great! Wish they had addressed the design of the leveler. Poor design on the original and mine always pops out. Tried everything to keep it in and eventually just removed it and use a door stop or wedged piece of wood to keep it level.

I have not had any issues with it. It fits snug. I think its better to pull it completely out then turn it to adjust it before reinserting it. If you force it to rotate while its sitting in its hole I think it wears the plastic down. Thanks for watching !

I see the lid is a little curved. I put an air pump on the lid of my old aquaclear. Wonder if the pump wil stay put on the new one. Nice review by the way.

Not sure on that one. May depend on what size you get. Mine is the smallest size, AC20, but the larger sizes may have a big enough lid that it works out fine. But yes it does have some slant to it

Every retailer that currently sells aquaclear filters online and in store, once they are no longer sold out. The first batch sold out immediately at the wholesale level so many dealers couldn’t even put in an initial order. My guess a few more months at least. You may see them pop up online here and there but just make sure it’s a legit website before you place an order. Thanks for watching !

carbon is nothing you should put in your filter long term. Legit no idea why the Aquaclear still comes with it.

It’s funny you bring that up, there’s always been an argument in the planted tank world that the carbon insert removes any liquid fertilizer you may add. There’s actually a discussion on Reddit happening right now about it in r/plantedtank

Look into Tidal filters they will never disappoint. I had aqua clear and hate it.

Tidals don't fit into every acrylic aquarium tank. Also I wish the tidal had the option to turn off the skimmer during feeding

​@@MichaelTilly-df4rf if you just turn the dial on the top it slows it down so it doesn't hold the food. With these new aqua clears you have to take the whole lid off to do those adjustments.

I think the problem most retailers are having right now is the entire first batch sold out before it hit shelves. I think within the next few weeks we will start seeing it online and in store. I would keep a close eye on amazon to do a big sale on the old model in the meantime.
