Did he say "Fahrenheit 451" was written by Asimov? Is no. That's Ray Bradbury.

This is by far David Cronenberg's BEST film, having seen most of his other offerings. I would imagine it was the most expensive he had made, and it shows, I believe he was one of those "independent" Directors before getting this studio film (probably the best of Hollywood studios - 20th century fox, that gave us - STAR WARS, ALIEN, PLANET OF APES , etc all classic science fiction). I don't align ALEN with SHIVERS the parallels are too vague, I sense some envy there. I wonder if Cronenberg and Paul Verhoeven have ever met, they have much in common- never afraid to shock, ground breaking & original plus they both make "Art house" films very cereal it's ironic to hear Cronenberg was going to direct TOTAL RECALL, as well.

The director is kind of the father of his characters and the tutor of his actors.

Lol he seems a bit into himself in this interview. "I invented stem-cell research, I came up with the internet, I wrote Alien" ...okayyy Dave, calm down.

@@kevins4222 Agreed. I suppose you could argue the job almost necessitates a sort of inflappable self-confidence, though. Besides, if anyone's earned it, he's far up on the list.

directors who are obsessive about something end up making horrible movies that are also considered genius by many.
