This is a very interesting looking bird, I can't wait to fly it! Uses a 6s lipo. 90mm EDF.

My cousin flew the F100 in Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for providing effective close air support for a team of SEALs caught in an ambush. They would have certainly been decimated had it not been for his superior marksmanship as he emptied his 4 20mm cannon magazines

Been waiting for one of these for a white. My father was a crew chief in Vietnam in the 353d TFS. I know one of his birds was called Triple Nickel as the serial number ended in 555.

Flex is Quique Somenzini's company. Aside from being a world champion pilot, he spent a few years as a premiere designer for Horizon designing the high end models. Flex is highly respected in the 3D marketplace... the Aura gyros are excellent 3D gyros. Virtually all the 3D guys I fly with use Auras (or Mercury).. .they are definitely higher-end. They ARE a little odd to set up since you can just plug a spectrum satellite into them and use them as the receiver. Won't work with Jeti or Futaba though: you need the actual receiver for those. Looking forward to the flight!

Thanks for letting me know about the gyro! I'll keep it, I just need to learn how to program it. It seems like it can do a lot, how would you rate it compared to the gyro in the spectrum receiver for as3x?

@@RCnurse You hit the nail on the head: it is definitely more complicated and needs to be programmed for each aircraft. If I'm not mistaken, Flex has done the programming already for the specific plane when they sell the Aura with a plane.. so you should be okay unless you want to tweak it after a few flights in... I would rate it higher than the AS3X from the standpoint of customizability and effectieness with the exception that you don't get the SAFE modes that Spektrum has. The Spektrum is definitely more plug and play and SAFE can be beneficial of course. Given they've already programmed the Aura, though, that should be fine. Great unboxing video, btw! I keep looking at that aircraft so I'll be seeing how the flying video goes once back in flying season.

@@davefost thanks! Yes, from what I read it's programmed for the f-100d. I think all I need to do is change what channel I'm using for the aura so I can use that gyro but use another channel specifically just for safe. That's another thing, I need to learn how to manage my nx8 better. I'm hoping for the ix14 this year. I'll have a flying video within the next 3 weeks. My gopro is out of commission, plus the holidays. But thanks for watching! Hopefully I'm making my content better.

You DO NOT want to use Safe/AS3X with the Aura system. You don't want 2 seperate systems fighting with each other. Your asking for big trouble. Use one or the other.

Yeah so I'm going to just have safe on one channel deactivated until I need it, then the aura on a 3 position switch.

ALWAYS setup for whichever brand u use. Nevermind what the instructions say🤷‍♂️. Every manufacturer uses some odd/different radio manf. Seems anything not spektrum, uses the fms gyro. Personally, I remove ALL gyro connections, then use only the rx gyro. Alas, I don't use any kind of gyro
