This video covers an item I believe every free ride hydrofoiler should consider owning. The Peak4 kite from Flysurfer has many uses and can be a great on the water kite for your foil adventures. It won't boost, but it is very playful, safe in high winds, and makes your foot switch game that much better. Consider the Peak4 in your arsenal and let me know your thoughts after giving it a ride.

I've been using a 3m and 4m for several months now and love them. I made my own bar and line sets (much cheaper) out of carbon. Less than 1kg for kite, bar and lines can't be bad :) I have had a couple of swims (definitely my fault) - It's sooooo easy to packup in the water compared to anything else! Wrap up the lines and bundle the kite down the front of your impact vest. Really easy :) Keep up the good work. Love the videos. PS - I definitely agree with crusher2u and his assessment.

As a result of watching this video, I purchased a Peak 5, 8m. Sometimes the trip to the beach can be over an hour so I've been land-boarding in a variety of local parks and ovals. Having less lift than my Souls, I don't feel like I'm going to die when a gust hits. Hydro foiling in around 10 knots is pure joy. Twin tipping in 15-20 knots is possible but you have to work hard to jump about half the height (or hangtime) of a Soul. It was never intended as a big air weapon! I feel like it's the ideal multi-sport tool I can get the kids trained up on as well for land-boarding.

Great video OK. I've used the Peak4 for hydrofoiling for over a year now and love it. It's so forgiving of rider errors and every time I give another foiler a demo of this kite they love it! There are now three of us using the Peak4 at our local beach, mainly in 5m size. While I have the Flysurfer bar which is sold for the Peak4, the other Peak4 users are using their various other brand 4 line bars without any problem. I don't bother with the 5th line as it's really only relevant for land or snow. I have also used the Peak4 with a twin tip and surfboard and jumped with it as well, although not as high as a Soul or LEI kite. Fantastic drift makes it a great kite for wave riding. I would definitely agree with OK Kiteboarder, if you hydrofoil, especially with a surf foil, you'll love having a Peak4 or two in your quiver. With such a low price you'd be crazy not to ;-)

I"m thinking between 4m and 5m size for strong winds. Why did you choose 5m ? Even though Im 70 kg rider, I think that 4m will be to weak to pull me on twintip or on a snowboard.
@crusher2u
@crusher2u 2 жыл бұрын
@@aleshaborisovich 5m Peak4 suits our strong summer seabreezes on a surf foil. However I have all sizes from 3m to 8m so I can choose the size to suit the wind and my 65kg. You will need a larger size for a twin tip compared to a hydrofoil. The Peak4 suits hydrofoiling with surf foils better than any other kites I have tried.

Very nice and instructive video, as always. I tried the Peak4 - 4m, the FireFly 4m (from ConceptAir) and the Kitech FRS 4m: by far, the most pleasureable was the Kitech because of its lack of flapping, whatever the wind. It packs nearly as small as the Peak and FireFly, but flies smoothly in any wind from 4-5 knots to 30 knots when I had to stop since I was foiling. And of course, no worries for relaunch should you dip it.

@@vim55k Good day Pavel: in 9kt (I am foiling) I am between a 9m and 12m Kitech. Personally I far prefer the Kitech because it is a double surface, it has a very nice aerodynamic behavior and never flutters in the wind. I fly only Kitech; from 5 to ~9 kt, I use a 15m UL; from ~8 to 13kt, I use the 12m; from 10 to 17kt, I use the 9m; from 14 to 22 kt, the 6m; and from 18 to 28 kt, the 4m. I weigh 67 kg and use a Moses 679 foil. I hope this helps.

I have just a question for you: I'd like to buy a last size, I'm thinking about the Peak 11m but you wrote you are not a good fun of big Peak size, so maybe you suggest a soul 10m? Tnks a lot
@TheOKKiteboarder

All depends on your local conditions. My experience was that the larger Peak sizes didn’t perform as well in gusty conditions. With that being said, the Soul, also does not excel in gusty conditions. If you ride in areas with consistent winds, you can’t go wrong with these.

Very cool. I fly Souls and Sonics in a location that only sees wind >25 knots rarely, so spending money on a ram air kite rated that high has always seemed like a waste of money. With the price that low and multiple positive reviews coming out from water-based users, I’m definitely going to have to try one out.

Very interesting indeed! I started kiteing in 2000 with the first 4 liners from cabrinha. Almost no depower. Quickly transitioned to different Flysurfer kites, but for the 10 last years i have been on North Tube kites. Living in an area i Norway where the wind quickly becomes gusty above 20 knots and my prefered kites is a 9 NEO (2016) and a older 7 NEO. I have gotten rid of all my "BIG" kites after i started foilboarding. My 7 and 9 covers everything and if the wind picks up a switch into strappless surfboarding. I noticed your comparison video on the new Doutone Neo (i almost bought one last week) and the Alula Roam. But now i am more into the peak 4 :-). Thinking maybe the 4 meter is a little small and wants to go for the 5 or 6? How much power will you get from these kites? I'm 75 kilo riding a foil with 850 front wing....

Serge, 8-12 is tough. I would ride the Soul in those conditions. I’m not as big a fan of the large Peak4 sizes. For 13-20 knots though the 5m would be great. Possibly the 6m in the 10knot and up, I just haven’t tried it yet.

@TheOKKiteboarder

In my experience, the 13m is just too large on the water, especially in gusty conditions when the low is very low and then it maxes out very easily. I think the 2.5 would be a good decision though.

I'd like to try one of these, but I really doubt it's gonna sail the angles I want to sail. I just don't think I'll be going upwind like that on a Peak, as interesting as the kite seems. Also, "you probably can't tack on it" isn't a great selling point. :) I'm currently trying out a similar travel quiver to you, but a bit different: 6/10m Souls. Still light and easy to pack. Taking them to Hawaii in two weeks so we'll see how that goes, assuming the trip doesn't get cancelled due to coronavirus.

Flew my Peaks and Souls on Maui. Peak4 drift way better then Souls in waves. I had Souls too. I could not outrun Peak4 surfing waves. Also Peaks are MUUCH faster flying through the wind window in transitions and looping. And with a 95 cm mast that kite points very well. The smaller the kite - the better it points. At home i only use 5 m and 8 m. If any LEI flies at all on the beach 8 m Peak4 is plenty with 1200 sq.cm. front foil wing.

@@TheOKKiteboarder Why you would not recommend Peak for twintip? I used Peak 2 9m with twintip 40x160cm in winds from 4m/s to 10m/s. But in 10m/s wind I was owerpowered. My weight is 70kg. Then I sold peak and bought fs lotus kites. But as I travel with my bagpack to kiting spots its difficult to carry two kites (for examplle 18m and 12m ). Thats why Im selling lotus kites at the moment. I just sold lotus 8m and 12m. 18m lotus is on sale at the moment. Then I wanna buy Peak 5m or 4m, 8m and 13m because I think I can carry them in one bagpack easy and use one bar only for all of them. And these 3 kites I guess will cover almost all wind conditions. What do you think, can I use just one bar 60sm for three of them?
