I came here from TFB tv's page. Great video! My first police duty pistol (way back in 1991 in sweltering coastal Alabama) was a Browning Hi-Power MkII. GREAT pistol that I still have. Even when I moved on to SIGs, H&K, stepped back to R/R 1911, I still stayed qualified with that BHP as a spare (which I needed when a SIG P220 and later H&K USP bit the dust). A dear and sadly late friend and coworker was, besides our dept armorer, a gunsmith. I remember him detail stripping my BHP like it was nothing, and tuning it a bit. That gun still has one of the sweetest triggers of all my guns. Not especially light, but you can feel distinctly when the sear is about to go, almost like a two-stage trigger. And all these years and countless rounds (from std to quite a few +P+) it STILL shoots great! Edited to add: I think it's brilliant you are getting this information out. Prayers and positive vibes for your health to improve. I think it's an incredible gift you are giving the world to share your knowledge and expertise. Hopefully we'll have many years yet to come.

I’ve heard nothing about FN making hi powers again. Springfield armory has a new copy out, and FN USA has a new pistol called a hi power, but it’s name only, a completely different pistol. Last I heard FNH stopped making hi powers in 2018
@BWEFirearms3 жыл бұрын
I have not played with one of the new FN Hi Powers but they sure look like the original Hi Power with some updates and that's how they are marketing it.
@jackgates69493 жыл бұрын
@@BWEFirearms The new version from FN is NOTHING like the classic P35. I got to mess with one at SHOT and the FN reps PROUDLY pointed out the myriad of differences. I suspect most Hi Power fanatics will pass. I did.

What can we do with a hipoint c-9 it's heavy enough I could definitely mill out some ports on the sides and maybe a longer barrel better trigger and just because it's a hipoint that's why

Awsome, I know Browning died before he could finish the High power and his assistant finished it for him after he died but I wonder how much of the work is truly Browning's design on the High power.
@michaelmichaelson84522 жыл бұрын
I've seen Brownins original patent drawings, tool room models and the French governments request for Prototype requirements. Browning worked hard on the initial design for this project but the bloody French kept changing the requirements. Saive picked up the torch where Browning laid down on his work bench and brought several refined models to the FN management to present to the French each time the French added more I want to the Prototype in the end the Model 1934,35 and 36 were produced in small scale the Belgium government settled on the M1935 version Grand Pussance (Hi-Power) the French missed out settling on another 1935 single stack of French design in 32 French long auto. Go to forgotten weapons on KZbin Ian has a wonderful bunch of videos on the high power

The Browning Hi Power was made in 7.65×21mm Parabellum, 9×19mm Parabellum, and .40 S&W. Are there any other Calibers that could work in it?

I’m thinking I need the new Springfield one that came out. Have you gotten your hands on one yet? I’m new to the high power world, several 1911’s but never a hi power. Curious to know your thoughts on springfields offering or if I should get an FN secondhand.
Only one problem with this video.. Now I want a Hi Power.

Ummm... contrary to American urban legend, JMB had no input with the initial prototype nor all the development versions after his two striker fired submissions were rejected. That rejection happened in 1924... everything before and after that was 100% the work of Saive. That aside, a very well done instructional video. Would have been wonderful to have when I bought my new 69C BHP new in the pistol rug when pistols were authorized for carry instead of our revolvers for plainclothes work. BTW, as every NATO soldier trained on and issued a High Power knows, you can indeed drop the hammer/fire the pistol without a magazine in the pistol. Does it matter? Perhaps to people who demand it be one of Brownings designs... i.e. mostly some of our fellow Americans.
