Helpful hint: I used a zip tie to hold the hammer back while reinstalling the sear and sear spring. Worked like a charm!

The easiest disassembly/re-assembly video for the Hi-Power I've come across! Your instruction style is spot on! Consider branching out to other firearms as time (and finances) allow! You've got a new sub sir...

Great video lots of invaluable information. Looked everywhere on the internet yours was the only one I could find this in depth. I have I have a high power with the original small safety lever and I want to install a larger paddle at least on the left side. I know what has some fitting involved so I may just send this one out to someone that's familiar with the platform I don't mind trial and error but I don't want to waste $80 on a safety if I bugger it. Not that I will but for the extra money just get it done.

I never thought this would be so complicated. It reminds me of trying to put my clock back together after cleaning. The trouble is that many of the wheels look similar, but need to be put back properly.

You did a great job with this video. Every step was thoroughly explained with great closeup visuals. This disassembly/reassembly was simple for me due to your tutorial and I have become more of a fan of the Hi Power due to its simplicity. Thank you, this video earned a sub.

Thank you for fully lighting your step by step instructions. Good closeups too. So many tutorials are too dark to view clearly (like a blued gun being worked on a dark mat) and are shot from a single over-the-shoulder camera angle that shows more of the instructors hands that the gun parts being worked on. Well Done !

Thank you for posting an excellent video on the disassembly of the Browning Hi Power. It really helped me in changing the spur hammer to a round no bite hammer. I've taken the magazine disconnect out of Hi Powers but that's as far I've gotten into them.

Thank you for making this video! It’s outstanding very informative and helpful. As others have mentioned when you have time update your tooling, polymer/brass hammer, leather hammer very useful & a set of roll pin punches. There’s always room for improvement! Thanks again

Thank you for this video. BHSpringSolutions have a couple of tools that facilitate working with the hammer strut. One is a third hand tool for holding the hammer back while removing or installing the sear pin. The other is for compressing the hammer spring thus making replacement of the hammer spring easy. I had occasion to use both tools today. Having only done this disassembly once before, over a year ago, I needed some remediable education on how to get it back together. They also have a punch for starting the trigger pin that reduces the risk of marring the frame. And another tool that eases installation of the firing pin stop plate Thanks again!

Good video. I used it to help in replacing the safety lever spring in my Girsan MC P35. I used a clamp with one end hooked into the magazine well and the other on the hammer (both well padded to prevent damage) to hold the hammer back during reassembly. Hope that information helps someone in the future.

Very nice video. Good job. Something that may help you and I’m surprised you don’t have one knowing you shop at BHSS. They make a Third Hand Tool to hold the hammer back. There are other methods too, some people use wire to hook the hammer and hook the other end around the frame at the mag well. Tape it up real good to avoid scratches.

Replacing the sear is the most difficult step! You really need three hands. I fabricated a jig using stiff wire to hold the hammer back against the hammer spring tension so I can put the sear back against the sear spring and insert the sear pin.

I have a Girsan MCP35, so it may be different, but the placement of the front of the trigger spring baffles me. Does it really just sit on top of the frame just in front of the trigger slot? It's not hooked onto anything, just scraping along the lower frame. Is that right??

Nail sets are made to sink the heads of finish nails below the surface of the wood you are nailing together. They come in various sizes from very small diameters to pretty large diameters. That Hi Power does not seem to have the magazine safety installed in it anymore.

When you are ready to remove the sear pin, manually lower the hammer so it doesn't snap forward when the sear spring is tapped out and the sear flies off. When you're reassembling, insert and hammer, insert the ejector, I sent the safety that alsonacts as the hammer pin. Bow instead of trying to hold thr hammer back, hold thr sear against the sear leaf spring, and trying to insert the sear pin, cock thr hammer and insert a long zip tie through the cocked hammer and zip tie it across the front strap of thr grip. It will hold the hammer in the cocked position while you fiddle with the sear against the sear spring and insert the sear pin. Snip the zip tie when you're done.

Who's heard of a firearm having both a extractor and a ejector? Should just be one thing that does both jobs like all other designs. It's the worst designed firearm I've ever seen. Browning died before finishing it so some dumbass finished it afterwards and put a stupid magazine disconnect in it for one thing, shitty trigger, bad ergonomics of slide release and small useless safety switch that is hard to use and requires two hands. I put in a longer after market slide release because the stock original is too short and useless where you had to change hand positions to use it. The most annoying thing is the internal trigger design. How they designed the trigger spring to just rest on part of a shelf with no mechanical connection keeping it there, a trigger paw that slides up inside a channel. The designer was smoking crack.

I’m doing that now but mine has the plastic one, did yours have the plastic or metal? I’m hearing that with the plastic ones you have to remove the entire trigger group to take out the mag safety and spring.
