The way you air over sections is very fresh and functional, I have'nt seen that before. The way you kicked out and then pumped out and met the next wave and seamlessly rode that one was terrific.

Foils are a little scary. I sand the tips dull on the my foils when new and if they get worn. Any minute loss in performance is less important than my skin and desire to prevent injury, and I’m tired of getting hurt. Some foils come sharp as a knife which seems unnecessarily dangerous. That spot looks epic for foiling.

Very nice video and love your contributions to water sports - but taking risks that you can ameliorate. I got a foil slice on the toe, then it got infected underneath. A real PIA to deal with despite so minor an injury... I now foil with helmet and booties despite loving the bare foot feel when windsurfing - and maybe a light vest is a good idea. Still can be quite stylish 😀. A Winger in the Gorge got a real bad foil stab in the leg and would have bled out without some guys fashioning a tourniquet and to his great luck a vascular surgeon was at Hood River Hospital as they do not have a Trauma Centre. Just some thoughts...

Hey man, I race A Cats. Used to race foiling ones. A couple years bad, had a knarly pitch pole. Flew a little while still attached to the trapeze. Came to the end of the trap, stopped, hit the water. Came up with a broken thumb and a ring finger one knuckle shorter. I’m not pro, but I’m competitive in a couple of dinghy classes at a national level. What you gotta realize is you know the water and the craft you’ve learned everything on. The foil equipment is a different deal. You didn’t just have a fall on your board. You had a slow motorcycle accident, with the speeds you go.

Just how sharp do your trailing edges need to be? Could a small sacrifice in performance make things a lot safer? Mine are dull and I don't notice anything except that they don't cut me easily. I wonder what others find.
@ferocious_rАй бұрын
The way hydrodynamics work, a slightly blunt foil edge should actually perform better, not worse. Curious why they sell them knife-edge sharp.

As soon as it started I new exactly where you were. Good to see the water angle. Not much in the way of medical attention on that island. First time I saw it on google earth it must have 10 / 12 ft or somthing . It was flawless , non sectioning from the outside all the way to the beach.

@@ugocdf7706 Na its the whole surf vlggers most always just have to drop names of spots or islands etc. shits wack. Keep it roots. The law of diminishing return - look it up. I appreciate you have sponsor commitments, but this foil surfing is pure bull. Admit it. You're a good surfer, great windsurfer/kite surfer- don't spread yourself too thin, Kai, it looks a bit desperate. Being selective demonstrates that you are thinking - you're not a zombie! Foiling ripples and getting slashed, that can't be the future.
