The G&L Comanche was the perfection of the Strat, IMO. The DFV is the best Strat bridge and the Z-coil pickups and passive treble and bass circuit are noiseless in all positions and can get as bright or fat as you want. Absolute top tier instrument.

Romans had the worst version you could get of that guitar. Wasn't even close in colors or design, used the wrong paint. Insisted it was painted with day glo when it was painted with oil based paint . He added a bunch of history to it that wasn't true or didn't exist. I got mine from the guitar hangar. It was painted by Jennifer Ganser and she did the best verison of it in my opinion.

The Fool SG was last owned and played by Todd Rundgren who gave it to a museum. He said it was painted all over even on the frets it was worn the wood was like balsa and had to be reworked and repainted, then clear coat was applied, the tail piece is not original, honestly its not as if it sat in a glass case, it is road worn and redone, copies were already made, why would anyone want it? Ive studied the paint schemes and none of them match the detail very well, the one your showing is not the original painting, sad really, Todd should still have it and not sell it.

But the fool will appeal to very rich people who were in their 30's when Nirvana came out and possibly only know Teen Spirit, I'm not a Clapton fan, but he's revered as a guitarist world wide, seen as one of the greats, Kurt's guitar was more of a cultural icon. I see Paul Allen ($17b) paying well over the $5m estimate. As Trogly alludes to, Kirk paid around $1m for Greeny and people are paying $80k for a copy of it, I could see Greeny getting towards $5m now

The Fool (who painted the guitar) was a Dutch design collective consisting of Marijke Koger and the late Simon Posthuma. They also designed the outside of the Apple Boutique in London, John Lennon’s Rolls Royce and his upright piano, and a host of other things. I once spent a suitably wasted afternoon with Simon in Amsterdam. He was a lovely guy with a wealth of anecdotes about London in the sixties.

EC’s The Fool might be logistically harder than the Rocky guitar to replicate. The original Rocky was, as you know, painted by Harrison himself, and his heirs were fully on-board with Fender for the reproduction. “The Fool” SG, on the other hand, was painted by a Dutch design collective also called “The Fool,” founded by Simon Posthuma and Marijke Koger; professional artists. Koger, and Posthuma’s heirs, may have a copyright on the design. I know individuals have made copies; but a big company like Gibson would have to settle the rights issue with more than just possession of the guitar.

The Cobain mustang's price is based heavily on his 72 competition one selling for $4 million. But that one was THE Smells Like Teen Spirit guitar and the Skystang is one of an order of 5 custom stangs made for him for the last Nirvana tour. Fender USA wasn't making mustangs at the time so he had to get Fender Japan to make them, hence the MIJ. So I think $1 million is a fair ask.

John Deacon from Queen recorded Another One Bites The Dust on a Stingray bass. The hand clapping in the song is actually John slapping the strings against those giant pickups.

Another (belated) vote for the Stingray review. I'm not even a bass player and they're some of my favorite stringed instruments.
