yeah Jackie did great in karate kid. just to refresh your memory he was drunkenly destroying the car that his wife and son died in after he'd rebuilt it. they died in a car accident they had while he and his wife were arguing in the car. the way he tells that story when he's sitting in the car with Jaden smith is extremely moving and tear jerking.

I think they've underplayed on his emotions. JC is a very good emotional actor and he can light the screen when he is in anger. Really missing the anger we are used to watching him play in his Hong Kong movies. There should have been rage shown in his movie. Would have been a deadly vengeance story.

I'm not sure how closely they followed the novel, but if they did follow it closely, it makes more sense for him to be dead inside. His daughters death wasn't the first time he's known tragedy, and it's basically like the final straw.

If you're interested in seeing Jackie Chan in movies with a more serious/darker tone, definitely checkout some of his older movies like: Crime Story, Island of Fire (The Prisoner), New Police Story, Police Story Lockdown, and Shinjuku Incident (if you haven't already). Shinjuku Incident in particular, shows Jackie Chan in an anti hero role, teetering between doing what's considered good or bad.

yes is revenge movie,this one was very different from the usual jackie chan but we have to understand that he is old now,he can't do to much karate that's why he use guns and bombs. i personality love it,he is my favorite, can't wait to see it but still is kind of a hero because hero the superheroes defend and do justice, in this case revenge is justice, for his daughter and stop the evil.
