The point of the video is to showcase how limited we are in our current system. Mandatory education is required for all children. The educational system discourages free thought, and prepares you for the fourty hour work week. Our bodies can be controled to go from home to school, or home to work, but our brains can't be controlled. We have the ability to change our system. Why passively go along with somthing that does not work?

This is more about the larger picture of a jaded bandwagon society....it's called "mankind" and it has steadily faltered since it's beginning and it will be till it's end. Everyone us in existence knows the innocence of childhood, until we are born into a society that finds a poor individual in their depressions and a rich individual into their splendor...it is greed in the heart that conquers our world when the true pathway to purity is love,lending and sharing without the expectation of a gain in return. If you want to really rid of this disease that has infected practically all of us, then every single monetary unit needs to be removed and the principles of Christ put into the heart. It was the very scriptures of the Bible that forewarned against the paths of living life through the means of defining anything other than a what's living as precious to a heart.
@Gregarius919 жыл бұрын
Thomas Ashley Very beautiful comment. Everything you said is spot on. Life is not about materialism. It's not about being the best. It's not about having the most money. Life is about cooperating amongst different types of individuals, to learn new lessons. When an individual can learn lessons he/she can grow spiritually. The current way we operate on this planet Is opposite from how we need to be acting. We have to stop senseless competition over material recources, and focus more on our spiritual well being.
@I3lob19 жыл бұрын
Thomas Ashley Oh yeah tell that those that have been burned at the stake during the withc hunt. Crusades. Jews. The spaniards during the Inquisiton days. Yeah they felt the love of the Christ for sure. Bah i think this our nature we are the demons and jailers of out own reality. Conquerors at heart and our purpose will always to dominate and destroy. I mean its what we are best at. All great empires were founded on superior force and intellect. To borrow a line from Ice and Fire Love cannot feed you,warm you,keep you company or help you. Rage,determination and fear will get you something tho. Hippie days are over. And war is coming.
@thomasashley59259 жыл бұрын
You're about as dumb as bricks! You don't even get what you are expressing. Try going casting your stones at those dead individuals who did such acts, it is exactly what you say it is...MANKIND! festered with self motive...There is not a single one of us that live off of puppets strings from heaven, just doesn't exist because it's not defining to love to apply control, so it's your own freedom to do as you please, and maybe you should ask yourself if your morgue of hate evolves a circumference away from your own freedoms and it even makes you angry to even see a smile...why? I will tell you so! Because you, my friend don't know how too under your destructive and self destructive greeds of illusions, if you don't find a light in your own darkness, you will stumble in your own paths just like every sinister fruitcake has in history...'And 'Ice and Fire' has only derived their lyrics from a fallen author of the 'Mein Kampf" or others who have fallen from these misguiding beliefs. And it is just prophetic that war will come, formally mentioned in Biblical scriptures, thus you choose yourself to be your own fool.... Matej Vlk, as you are still young, spend your energies in finding Christ, and then you will be off your crutches that influence your hate, stop being childish! May God bless you

Honestly, after watching this, I think people take the gun too literally. At no point is she shown shooting anyone; she threatens the teacher, but the whole thing seems metaphorical. In this case, it's not a literal gun, and she's not truly threatening the teacher, by, for instance, saying "I'm going to kill you", but is being threatening in a different way, such as by promoting and stating radical ideas that make others uncomfortable. The gun itself seems like a metaphor for force and an instrument of change; by destroying the soulless machines in the school and the therapists office, this could be taken to say that the system itself is flawed and needs to be disposed of (and isn't that a synonym for 'killing'? Of course, we're killing ideas here, not people), so that something new (the flowers, vines, etc. that grow afterwards) can be made, that works better (or is perceived to work better). By destroying the signs of the soulless and parodied businesses, this too can be seen as a metaphor of change. Out with the old consumerist notions, in with a more organic and wholesome approach to life. Honestly, the most disturbing part of this video is how many comments show a lack of imagination. There's my two cents, do with it what you will.

the girl felt bounded to society - it's laws and way of life and can't do what she wanted that had meaning to her such as go to a forest and get relief of pure freedom, she felt that living in a world to obtain knowledge to work for money in order to breath air for life was stressful. the forest to her was like true paradise - absolute freedom. i understand where this person was coming from. everyone too at least has a paradise to live life in freedom where we don't have to live by any rules or laws.

Not exactly 'becoming'. It's been this way for a long time. Kids weren't listened to that much even in the 1800's. Often parents would sent their children off to boarding school for ten years and then the kids would marry and leave their parents. Also the parents rarely spoke to their children.

The gun doesn't represent violence. It represents how the girl is solving her problems. Society are the 'bad guys' and is trying to pull her away from the truth. The things that the teacher 'taught' with is the lies that society feeds to children. Not everything is a scam, which represents the forest. It's a 'happy place' where the beauty of the world lies. As Mikasa said, 'this world is cruel but this world is beautiful'. That's just a small theory I made up.

Stella Skondric It's a long story, but I will tell it in the shortest way possible. Back in my early teenage years I had it all: luck, love ( I had a beautiful GF back then) and my health was in a much better condition. I was optimistic back then. Now I don't have any luck, because whatever I start I fail. My love life has been nonexistent for 10 years, and my health is deteriorating. I kinda lost my optimism after all of this started happening to me.

I like this. The adolescent girl is seeing the world as it is truly with opened eyes, and doesn't want to conform, thus putting her into a state of depression. She seeks the peaceful forest, without noise. She is then stated as a troubled child, and is forced to take treatment, that takes away her willingness to reject society, and conform instead. She then has a mental breakdown, and is locked away forever in a insane asylum. Thus saying, if we reject society as an individual we're stated as "troubled" "crazy", which is completely true, and very sad.

You know, thinking about it, life is a little bland... go to school, get home, see your friends briefly... isn't there SO much more we could do? Expanding our imaginations, transforming Mars... destroying our economy.... economy. That's it. That's the problem. Economy. If we lived without money, we would save trees.... and lives. Think of the poor people, who have no money for food. If we offered things for free to each other, we could save so many lives! And it would be great.... all of Earth, working together to achieve living! Call me insane, or a communist, but I believe this is the way Earth could evolve! No more money! Just working together! So many more could live... and we could achieve more! (Quoting KZbinr, Floramagicstars)

But that's a very complex situation and could have a lot of potential flaws. If the world went back to jungles and forests everywhere, without society or economy, it would become anarchy. People would need to hunt to eat and animals aren't common enough in cities. Imagine how many people would starve. We also wouldn't have any houses, so what would we do for shelter? What if the shelter we found was too rare? People may be willing enough to kill others to take that shelter for themselves. This is why we need economy, to keep things from becoming anarchy. It would be nice to have more freedom, but not too much of it.

You know I love video's like this for two reasons. First we have the video itself and that is one side, the initial message and story being told. But one of the most fascinating parts also is the interpretation of others. Art films are not to be take at face value, their to be critically analyzed. When one analyzes a film personal experience and bias is involved which reflects much of a persons personality and mentality. Ones take on say a film like this can give you almost a psychiatric reflection of the viewers mentality and thought process and personally I find that fascinating.
@matveyxivan71599 жыл бұрын
Tanna Blackburn same here, only im finding most people to be close minded and thier view points are obscured by society, meaning you wouldnt be seeing the true them but a dumbed down society friendly version :/
@LadyNyra9 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Another way to perceive it is in a fashion such as Social Triggers (thats my way of calling it anyways). Words or lines or even visuals that people instantly recognize and jump the gun on. A perfect example is the Swastika. Used by Nazi Germany as a symbol of Hitlers government we instantly think of him when we see it. But prior to that it was a mutli-cultural symbol of peace. We jump the gun (no pun intended) on things meaning.

she didn't have the right to remove people from the only world they could handle, but, they attacked her first - for her difference. she made the mistake of believing all people wanted what she had. as did they, thinking she was sick. her best move would have been to wait patiently for her escape, and to leave them in their wasted world. you can only save yourself. in doing so, you may find those seeking other escapees.

well your one of the few lucky ones then. i got stuck in a school that doesn't give a shit about individuality and wants you to get high numbers on paper so the school looks good, and the kids? oh my god they're terrible. some teachers are getting severe stress because of how much they misbehave (the school cant or wont even do anything about all the troublemakers either!). i would honestly do anything to have a nice school like that, seriously. you must go to a much nicer and well kept up school (probably even richer than mine, my schools always begging for money), my school is run down and barely anything in there has changed (i saw some photos of when my mom went there in the 90s, and it looked exactly the same as it does now!). the only nice looking area in there is this college and career center building they added, but its really small and doesn't have alot of classes. alot of these people in the comments probably go to the same kind of school i do. just because your school is one of the few schools that are actually nice, doesnt meant that the rest of our schools are perfect like yours. i honestly WISH my school was that good, but its not unfortunately.

Honestly, the educational system is aimed more towards those with the want to learn and the will to learn. Unfortunately, there are other kinds of people.
@spoiledphish8049 жыл бұрын
but we are forced to do it and when we do it we have to listen and not be listened to they never let us talk and when they do they say were too young even though in every grade we go to they tell us that we are older now

Because the world is not a happy place for the majority of people. Art is a medium for communication and a true Artist conveys a message inspired by his experiences, feelings and thoughts. Even abstract ones. When the stimuli (input) is dark the result (output) will be dark as well. The majority of great Artwork is dark. Why? Because negative input always produces stronger emotions/feelings and thoughts than positive input. It inspires more. As sad that may be for the state of the world we live in (the world has always been bleak), at least we will always have great Art. Like this animation.
@NOVAZ3N10 жыл бұрын
Because they are a reflection of our world. They are made from people who see the different side of what we call "reality". For those of us who were born here, we never asked for this life. We were simply told to follow the rules and to not ask questions, otherwise we would get into trouble and or be punished for our "rebellious" behavior. I guess that's just my opinion anyway.

I feel that these types of films actually have true meaning and can give you a break from all the meaningless things on KZbin. they give you a refreshing wake-up call about the true meaning of life and this world. and how sometimes society won't approve of your choices, but you have to stand up, and fight for your individuality. In my opinion these animations are somewhat under-appreciated, if you will, and they will always have a special place in my heart.

>shittibank Lmao But on a more serious note, I appreciate the message of the story. The shadows were definitely an interesting medium to use, hiding the faces of all the characters; it helps to show how, no matter what emotions may be occurring, the facts still stand true, and what happens in life will still have happened no matter what you try to do about it. It also tells a strong message about growing up: that society feeds off of innocence. The forest is where the young go to escape their troubles, but as society drains them of their innocence, they begin to lose that forest. Problems begin to catch up, and you either have to grow up and face them or crumple and be blended in with everybody else, aka letting society take care of your problems in exchange for your will: your individuality. In here, the girl takes a gun up to try and fight this deal; obviously, she fails miserably, and is sent back to jail, where she goes back to her forest. The gun symbolizes rebellion, a lashing back, a belief that rights can be wronged in the world. But it fails, and she reverts back to a child-like state. There's no point in trying to change anything, so might as well stay here and rot so I don't have to face my problems anymore.

As a child the message I get from this is that we're never actually listened to. We heard but not listened to. My mum always wants things to go her and my step dad's way. She doesn't listen to menor my sister. Adults think children are stupid. I'm definetly not stupid. At least I don't think so anyway. My principle saw me and my fellow pupils as scabs that needed to be picked off. She loathed me. She even removed me from the transfer test because she "thought I was going to be upset". I couldn't care less. There are plenty of schools out there. My actual dad is the only adult I know that really listens. He sits and listens and replies to everything. I love my dad. My granny listenes sometimes. She's become more understanding as of late. I got deep into this , didn't I? Well you don't need my whole life story so I'm going to post this comment and be on my way. Nice video by the way. Excellent work.

I see the comments filled with tons of people who are convinced school is very bad and basically brain-washing people. Am I the only one who actually likes school here? Sure some things can be a bit boring but if you don't learn anything at all, you can't be anyone. Even the people saying that school stops you from being free and expressing yourself individually, you wouldn't even know what that phrase meant if you hadn't learnt it. You wouldn't have all those opinions of yours if you hadn't been taught. Sure you might not necessarily need everything they teach in schools now a days but most of it is pretty important to be able to live fully and understand and enjoy life. The girl in the video, I think, either has a tiny bit of an overactive imagination (I mean she is twelve - no hate on twelve years olds as this is coming from one but we can exaggerate some situations in our heads without meaning to) or she is living in a very, very strict world, but not everywhere is like that. My school happens to be a very nice place where we are encouraged to voice our opinions and we can even correct most of the teachers except for one who is kind of grumpy (there's always one).
@geminiwonder8678 жыл бұрын
I as well like school.but there are billions of people in the world.and 2 million people watched this video. thousands of people liked or disliked this video.and a few thousand commented on this video. and you're telling me that a few thousand comments don't like school... shouldn't that tell you something? that those individuals have there own perspective of school and maybe you shouldn't worry about them.not all schools are the same, not all schools are friendly and not all schools are vulgar. We all want to have a life where we can enjoy it. but we should think of the obstacles we need to overcome. And some of those obstacles are at school the students, teachers, homework, test, and other things too. students can make one another want to kill each other or themselves. teachers can be oblivious or too deep in their work that they can forget about struggling students. or just label them with some type of mental disability. homework can be done at home if you have time, because you may just be helping family or yourself with something else that is more important than that sheet of paper. test that rate your intelligence and shows a number / letter whether you are a failure or a successor at something that may never be useful in life. school also have a way of disciplining children too, physically or mentally.yeah we do have friendly students, kind teachers, test we can ace, homework we can do that take little time.but just know that we all have different opinions about school and we shouldn't think "School is great! it helps us its such a wonderful place!!!we should all just see that!" sorry to say but schools are different and they can treat you differently too.

Ugh what a negative view of the world. It almost makes me cry to see people with this state of mind. I wish I could explain or show people what the world has to offer but it's something you have to find out for yourself. Life is like a forest with endless directions to go in but depressed people seemed to be locked in a room and can't see what's outside. It's so frustrating for me to see these people torture themselves. Ugh and I can't help them.

but it is all too true. I learned from a young age that the world does not care what your weaknesses are, it bends you until you either break or conform to their every command. no time to escape or let go of problems. I personally will have to live the rest of my life searching for meds, therapists and doctors when others are searching for jobs and houses. curled up in bed while the world is being productive or at play. that's if I live long enough to become an adult, and I can't see myself making it very far.
