The interesting thing about the third game is that it has two _endings_ . You can actually save the witch as she's being controlled and not a genuine antagonist, which also of course affects Pyre's worldview and all that. I can not for the life of me remember how you get it though.
@FraudDepartmentYT2 жыл бұрын
Holy shit. It's insane that you know that you know that but you're correct. Apparently if you defeat her with the bible that triggers the good ending.

@@FraudDepartmentYT Yep. I know because i'm love delving into obscure gaming and cuz i love Nocturne, so of course i had to play those games! Personally, like them all one way or another, even if they are very much flawed and bugged to hell. My rating would go 1>3>2.

What is most important about these games are that they are (as far as I know) the sole piece of official lore that deals what is exactly behind the happenings in the forest (namely, Heciatomix). I noticed that a lot of people who have played these games (and they are few) have rather fond memories of them, myself included. :)

Core memory unlocked. Vol1 was great, but I feel and Share your absolute PAIN for the other 2. I'm a fan of the Blair Witch lore, a lot happened at that time in regard to horror. The movie made everyone question "was what I just watched real?" and going home that night and sleeping with the lights on. It was WILD. I remember buying the first game, enjoying it, (then playing Sanotorium) and trying to find the other 2. I got them online some years later, got them to work, and sat quietly on my own staring into my palms asking myself why did I just do that. A Painful waste of time, none the wiser on the lore, and mentally broken from the end of the last game. I went back to playing Red Alert 2 for some time if I remember correctly.

This is a bit of a bummer for me because I had planned to make what would have essentially been this exact video right down to the presentation and style. You said so much of what I would’ve said and more. It does bring me some comfort to know that you experienced similar technical problems in running chapter one though. Looks like I’ll have to shift gears or change lanes and do a deep dive into Book of Shadows or something like that instead (I see you have a copy of it yourself). I know it’s selfish but I can’t help but feel a bit down by seeing this video. It’s very good and probably better than I could’ve or would’ve done it. Feels like something has been stolen from me but I never really had it to begin with. You hate to see people living your dreams but you can’t really blame them. Keep up the good work.

Ah mate I'm sorry. I can attest to the same feeling as this has happened to me a few times now, but don't let It get you too down. I just think to myself that there are so many people making videos one of them is bound to beat me to the punch on some of this stuff. Also in some cases I figure I can just wait about a year and then take a crack at the topic then. In terms of these old Blair witch games I still think there is plenty of details I left out that you could go over. Some because I didn't want to spoil it some was were for the sake of time, but I feel like you could go into MEGA detail about these if you wanted too. (P.S. I totally think you should do a deep dive on book of shadows because I think it's actually pretty cool.)
@GhoulCityOffline2 жыл бұрын
Hi, guy who made the thumbnail for this video here (and also make my own videos) , just wanted to say, other people covering a topic shouldn't dissuade you from taking a shot at it yourself. No two people are exactly the same so it's likely your creative direction would make for a more different and valuable video than you might think. He's not even the first person to make a video on these games lol. I think it's more about finding a unique voice (ie presentation, editing style writing, etc) than the core information that you present. Plus, like he said, he left some stuff out ;)

Oh man these games I love the atmosphere and how immersive they were. I also miss these small video game developers in the '90s and early 2000s. BTW the most accurate description of Volume II I read back back then is that it was almost like an Interactive Movie it was purely story driven for Coffin Rock legend. I personally loved the flashbacks and made me sympathize with the protagonist which is quite sad considering the ending. The game also has a relation to the first volume and apparently Doc Holliday was suppose to find the soldier's diary in forest but the only thing I came across was Holliday speaking to the Witchhunter protagonist from volume III in one of those extradimensional episodes.
@FraudDepartmentYT2 жыл бұрын
Interesting I never found a diary either, however Elly Kedward does have Lazarus' uniform in her house and Durant mentions him as well. I wonder if the diary thing was crossed wires, because the witch hunters conversation with Holiday doesn't match up with the events of volume 3 at all.
@parkmallbaby2 жыл бұрын
Another connection with Volume I and Volume II is you can find Robin Weaver who is already an elderly woman living outside of town in an old house with bottles hanging on trees. Its not on the map if I recall it right and you have to do something to get there which I now forgot and she mentioned Lazarus making it back. According to the fandom page trivia the witch Elly Kedward just made it appear Lazarus woke up from his wounds again but during the entire game was really using him to fight the evil spirit Hecaitomix to save Robin and thwart the ritual from being complete. Hecaitomix was the evil indian god who was responsible for all the bad things they accused the witch Elly Kedward in Volume III and executed for witchcraft. Notice in the conversations in Volume II that the year the Union soldier wakes up is 1886 decades after the Civil War ended and the year after Bess Weaver's son died?

I feel like the Blair Witch Project is something that doesn't need a squeal or a prequel. What we see in that movie is all we need to see and I don't think any continuation could top that as there isn't a story. What we saw is a small group of three people documenting an Urban Legend that surrounds a town and they ended up being lost in the forest slowly losing their minds. It leaves it up to interpretation on whether or not if there something supernatural is happening or if there was a logical explanation like a killer stalking/taunting the group with the legend.

I will say that I have never played the other games, I have only ever played the newest one that came out a few years back. But that game RUINED me. Maybe because I played it all in a single sitting and ended up finishing the game at 2 in the morning, I don't know. But it ended with me shaking from head to toe on my front porch chain smoking just from the stress. Lol Especially one of the last parts before you go into the house where the dog is screaming in the woods, clearly injured, and you're just frantically running around in a loop looking for him. As an animal lover, it stressed me out to the core. Literally was in tears searching for him. Then the house. The house. If you have any sort of PTSD, just know it's a huge trigger. It was for me, but I'm not going to put that against the game because that's my own issue. The portrayal of PTSD in that game is so heartbreakingly real. I don't want to give too much away for those that haven't played it, because it is definitely worth playing at least once. I don't think I have the heart to play it again. Maybe one day. Lol I will say that for a game to have that great of an impact on me, someone who is obsessed with all things horror and doesn't usually get scared that easy, it's VERY well done. I would say it plays like more of a psychological thriller than horror, but damn, does it mess with you. Months later I was thinking about the ending to that game.
