A bit beautiful and bittersweet how much Walt wanted this EPCOT happen, a dream he knew would be part of his final contribution to the Disney family's legacy. Having that easily accessible airport of tomorrow was just as much an important part of his vision of a model utopia as everything else that eventually never saw the light of day... He really wanted to make the world a better place.

Ahhhh, Adam! You were soooo close to the spot, and it’s marked. I’m a long time CM currently homed at Saratoga Springs Resort. The spot where the house used to be is marked with a big dark pink “hidden Mickey” on the light pink building that you can barely see through the bushes @22:59 . In fact, you’re basically pointing the camera just right of it. Since you’re DVC you can check it out, just say you’re going to the preview center, but you can see it clear as day on the side of the building facing the parking lot. These info vids are always awesome! Thanks for the excellent content!

Adam, It was interesting to see Walt's overall plan for the airport. Back in 1966 when you look at the airport you can see they had already planned for two runways. At this time in the U.S. the number of airports that had two runways could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Air travel at this time was still a luxuary that most could only hope to do some day. When Walt's plans for WDW were announced a lot of so-called experts said it would loose money because people would'nt go on holiday very often. Back then families might only make one or two big holiday trips in all the time the kid's were growing up. These day's people are on holiday more than they work. Cheers, Chris Perry.

Fascinated by Disneyworld aerial maps and photos. Always had the idea of framing some and asking visitors to guess what they thought it was. Stayed in All Star Music a few years ago and amazed at the distance from it to Magic Kingdom. My late father and I tried hard to get our heads round the route to no avail. Wouldn’t it i amazing to visit a parallel universe in which Walt had his chance to fully realise the vision?!

Great read on mouseplanet about his film.....The film was shown at the Park East Theatre (501 North Orlando Avenue) in Winter Park on February 2, 1967. The movie theater no longer exists even though for a time it had a plaque in the lobby that commemorated this historic film showing. The theater was chosen because it was less than two years old, could hold a significant capacity of people and that there was no movie theater in downtown Orlando...

I'm a HUGE Walt Disney World/Project Florida fan...and I too saw the discrepancy between the initial location layout of the airport vs. the location on Walt's "Epcot film". I pointed this out to Disney historian Sam Gennawey and asked him about it last year, but he simply said that the layout in the EPCOT film version would have been the last scheme.
