Basically a prototype ship for the Charon Stalwart and Paris, amazing, revolutionary for the time it was built, but is was ultimately just the proof of concept, the only real reason this ship was put into large scale service would be the lack of time to refine the designs, and the need to more heavy hitting ships, they had their time, but in the end, they were a stopgap.

Just found your channel and it’s super refreshing to not have videos that are just 343 did x and bungie used to do x. Just pure Halo fandom, simply awesome we need more like this. Also Halo ships are awesome these ship breakdowns and the lore segments sprinkled in there are really enjoyable to watch. Thanks for making these

I definitely try to refrain from weighing in on fanbase arguments. I'll talk about anything in halo I find cool, plain and simple.

Hey my dude! I'm the art lead of the Sins of the Prophets mod- just found your channel and its great to see our renders used in videos that really dive into the niche details of ships like yours, you're doing quality breakdowns! Always great to see this corner of Halo lore getting more exposure, and if you ever need/want some high quality renders for any future ship videos I'd be down to help you out!
@gammacompanymark Жыл бұрын
Oh wow, I was just about to contact you guys to make sure it was okay that I've been using your models! Absolutely fantastic work over there, all of you. From the music to the models to the gameplay it is exactly what I'd want from a halo space RTS and I'm super excited for SotP2. That said, I have no goddamned idea how to use 3d models or animate anything! I've dabbled in Blender from time to time but I generally, I'm unlettered. But people ask me what game I'm showing every day, I'm glad to send them your way.

@gammacompanymark Oh perfect timing then! We always are totally cool with use of our ship renders as long as the mod is credited somewhere, so we're already all good! Really glad you like our work and the mod, we're working hard on getting our new release out with plenty of new cool stuff that I'm sure you'll love! And no worries on that dude we'd be able to supply you with the renders for your videos ourselves if you're interested, it'd be no problem at all! There's a few of us who've seen your videos and we'd love to support your channel if you need a good side view or action shot of a ship for a future breakdown 👍

That would be absolutely awesome, it's baffling to hear that actual real-life people have been watching my videos. I really appreciate it. I have an email listed in the About tab on my channel, if you ever want to send something through there, videos and what have you.

The lack of any real contingent of ground troops is actually an unbelievably huge plus in the ship's favour. It requires a whole lot to support a single human life in space, the ISS masses in at nearly a million pounds and that's just to keep seven people alive and busy. Many ships the UNSC employed during the war had hundreds or thousands of crew on board, given that this is space they are probably to a person highly skilled specialists, the stuff they need to operate the ship and survive battle casualties. Then on top of that the UNSC throws a compliment of soldiers onboard that usually matches if not exceeds the crew with massive hanger bays, aircraft, ground transport, armoured support, supplies and entire buildings in some cases. Keep in mind all of this is in addition to the consumables and life support needed to keep the ground contingent alive while on the ship. Unless the UNSC has made a conscious choice to regress to ancient Roman naval tactics they've got what has to be the majority of the mass of the ship dedicated to supporting a capability that does nothing for its role as a warship. I would postulate that if the UNSC cut out the ground contingents and dedicated that mass to kicking alien ass they would have experienced a significant boost in per-ship effectiveness. Plasma needs to burn through all the armour before it can actually hurt a ship and imagine if every UNSC ship suddenly had double or triple the armour. Imagine if the MAC had its own reactor(s), sure the Covenant have the shielding to withstand a rate of fire dictated by the lack of power onboard human ships but what if that MAC mounted spinally on the kilometre-long cruiser could go to rapid fire and blast away till the magnets melted.
@robrockstar9648 Жыл бұрын
My understanding tanning is that we see multi role functionality in later classes is a result of the loss of so many carriers and battle ships and the ability to replace them. Ideally you would want to focus on specialization but the UNSC had to work with what it could build

I really cant wait for you to cover the Vindication. Ive seen many variations of it, like the Vindication we see in Halo 4, or the SOTP take on the vindication and the Project Stardust take on the vindication. I freaking love it so much

I love this ship. The Hillsborough secondary weapons and AA suit has one of the best firing arcs found allthrough UNSC ships, if these ships had survived the war and gotten a postwar refit they would have been fantastic squadron leads for small frigate task forces. The Hillsborough has 2 meters of armor, the same ammount as the halberd class, one of the most armored UNSC ships, these ships could take a beating before going down.

Missiles useful for saturation attack and can be launch and hit at all angle. MAC gun don't have firing angle and required whole ship to move for aiming it.
@MikMoen Жыл бұрын
Missiles provide explosive force, which as we had seen with the Fall of Reach animation when John and the other Spartans were confronted by a CCS Cruiser on their way to attain their Mjolnir suits, even Nuclear blasts failed to penetrate Covenant shielding. But, a big hunk of mass going VERY very fast is another story. As a favorite Gunnery Sargeant once said, "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in Space."

I personally love the design as a more aggressive and naval oriented warship, however as you said, the problem is that such a vessel requires large amounts of resources and lives to crew and operate, all the while suffering from outdated equipment and armaments compared to the more powerful halberd class destroyer or even the halcyon or autum class cruisers, not to mention that whilst it’s firepower was potent, the lack of flexibility and ability to carry fighters makes it not that idealistic for an all out galactic war, where even the empire from Star Wars and WH40k know that any general rule of thumb is that flexibility is king, take a space marine battlebarge as an example, bristling with guns and firepower and yet in a one to one a battlebarge is weaker compared to other classes of warships in terms of firepower and yet they are heavily armored along with their ability to rapidly deploy a small army of space marines via either lander or thunderhawk drop ships or more popular means is via a ten man squad drop pod, in which a drop pod can carry either ten ordinary marines or a devastator squad with five marines all armed with heavy weapons or even a single heavy drop pod designed to drop a dreadnought into the middle of a battle, and again it’s like comparing a stake knife vs a scalpel where yes the scalpel is super sharp but it’s small blade and softer metal makes it less ideal for general purpose use
