Wow, I had no idea that Gershom and Eliezer’s descendants played such a key role in maintaining the Tabernacle and temple. Their story reinforces the idea that God’s plans often include hidden aspects that are essential for the greater good. Loved this deep dive into their legacy!

I absolutely agree! I'm very grateful to hear of this research because I'd only figured Zipporah took these 2 sons home to Midian. If so, how disappointing. So, I'm rejoicing in this story that proves they remained faithful Hebrews and fully connected and with with great prodigy!

Thanks for the clarification 🤝 I can imagine the pain and anguish they must have gone through for not seeing the body of their late father , nor burry him even. Today's Pastors, groom their offsprings to take over the church leadership. Moses' kind of work and responsibilities couldn't have enabled him to handle demanding family activities; his sons were mainly raised by their mother Zipporah and maternal grandfather. The sons were kept in partial obscurity on God's purpose, so that people don't exert high pressure/ expectations over them after the demise of Moses. Joshua was the divinely planned successor. Let's pray for our children to follow the LORD's calling upon their lives, not what we want as parents.

And his brethren by Eliezer; Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son. Which Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated. Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD. And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren." - 1 Chronicles 26:24-28

Just because we are not told more about the sons of Moses does not mean they disappeared from history. they are still a part of history. this is a very good way of explaining the role of Moses and Aaron family it comes no where close to answering the question of why the sons of Moses are not mentioned after they are, if it was an important part of the history or the lesson we are being taught it would be there so to me it is just trivia.

If Gershom and Eleazar played such crucial roles behind the scenes, do you think modern-day believers should prioritize less visible acts of faith? Or are we too focused on recognition in the church today?

Faith pleases God; we should not be fixated on pleasing humans. Our faith is in the Creator of all creations and not to seek recognition anywhere. It all belongs to God.

Our pastor just completed a 10 lesson study on the 12 Disciples called God Uses The Ordinary". He elaborated on the usefulness of both Philip & Andrew and yet they seemed obscure because they operated well without any recognition. There are 12 personality types as there are 12 Disciples. All-in all each one needs the Infilling of The Holy Ghost as recorded in Acts 2:38, as the listeners obeyed The Gospel according to Apostle Peter who himself had just received the Holy Ghost!

@joantaylor468Ай бұрын
I agree it's basically repetitive. However this method of teaching can enrich one's understanding of the nuisances of the cultural significance to the point that it accomplishes much for many people and the lesson ads different words in order to magnify or help to expand the meaning. As you mature through the stages of your life you too will appreciate the steeping in God's Word as a teabag in hot water! (There, lol, did I repeat enough ?)

G-d did not give them prominence to hid them from the great resentment Moses experienced of his glory even from his own relatives. Also to protect his children from the unfaithful mob when they became thirsty and hungry. I think Tsipporah had to show G-d she would raise the children in the love of G-d and His laws to allow the children to live, because she would have had to take the kids away to raise them with her father Jethro in order to be out of harms way in the desert.

Why the son of Gershom, the grandson of Moses in Judges 18:30 is not mentioned? Jonathan had been a priest of Micah and his descendants the priests of Dan until captivity. That was not in accordance with God’s ordain, in deed.
@2beready27 күн бұрын
Well all who left Egypt and were over 20years , apart from Joshua and Caleb died n the wilderness and only those aged up to 20 were the only ones who entered the promised land together with Joshua and Caleb. It sound as if Aaron had children aged up to 20yrs so they would have entered the promised land. If Gershon and Eleazer did not have any children at that time , or if they were over 20, then they would not have any descendants left apart from those of their uncle Aaron.

Moses was of Levi, was the authority figure, and he was also responsible for the teaching of his sons. Otherwise who would follow a leader that teaches what he doesn't follow.. YaHaWaH's oder of things is to teach as I AM.., not do what I say. Moses was YaHaWaH's voice, and physical example, so he was responsible to set the example in all things. That is why YaHaWaH was going to kill him, and Zipporah stepped in to save him.

Moses was dark skinned, or what most would call Black. The Lemba Tribe in Africa have been proven through DNA evidence to be the descendants of Aaron, Moses' brother. They were made in the image of God, who is also dark skinned, or "Black". Revelation 4:3 NKJV [3] And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. The ONE on the throne was like a jasper and sardius stone, those stones are brown. Shalom
