Many people hike in from Jiri/Shivalaya/Phaplu, the trail is not forgotten. But you did forget one more impressive one, the High Scenic Trail opposite side of the valley from Tengpoche. The trail up via Mong La - Phortse to Pangpoche offers more impressive views, practically no trekkers and abundance of wildlife like musk deer and Himalayan tahr. Tengpoche monastery can be visited on the way down.

Thanks! This looks like an awesome trail - we've done quite a bit of research on ways to go, but haven't come across this before - that might be a challenge for next time. The reason we've called it forgotten, is because it used to be the main trek to EBC before Lukla airport opened, and we only met a few trekkers compared to crowds we encountered in from Lukla onwards.

@@chasingsunshinetravel9147 I have walked Jiri -Namche section 5 times so far, and once from Dhap Bazar over Pikey Peak. Anyway, it is a self feeding circle, people hike via Tengpoche only, make these videos, so followers get stuck to the same rut. Also practically all agencies just offer the same same as nobody has the mind to ask for something different. Phortse - Pangpoche trail has been there for hundreds of years and it is clearly marked on the maps. Still only a handful of trekkers use it while hundreds walk the valley floor by the river every day.

@@chasingsunshinetravel9147 The main trail to Namche started from Jiri, road there was finished in 1985. Road to Salleri is fairly recent (like 10 years).

Hey! Did Phaplu > EBC in 2019. It is indeed a beautiful path! I started under the monsoon which destroyed one of the accesses to Phaplu for the day and I had to walk. Quite challenging to cross, I was wet and muddy 2 minutes after leaving the jeep! I think you might have made a slight mistake at the beginning, the mountain you name Mt Everest is Thamserku in my opinion. Compare to your maps and photos and tell me if I am wrong or not haha. Very nice video! Cheers from France ❤

Yes indeed. You can't see Mt. Everest from the Phaplu area.

Great Video. will try this trail this October. She was not strapping her backpack well which is why she might have lost her balance and had anckle injuries. Backpack must be strapped correctly and there should not be any gape between back and the pack - they should be tight up to each other leaving no space at all and backpack has it's air circulation channel inside. Happy Travelling and thank you again for the video.

Great video's, your tired expressions brought a smile to my face. Made me remember my last trip to Nepal. Do you recommend this trip as a good alternative to the Lukla flight? Good luck in your travels.

Thanks! I am not going to lie - it was probably the hardest part of the route. The journey to the mountains was terrifying too. Saying that, we really enjoyed the contrast between less visited villages in the middlehills and busy Everest paths.
@davidcooksley21543 жыл бұрын
Definitely, walk in from Bhandar,walk out from Phaplu.See the real Nepal,walking through local villages.By time you arrive Cheplong where the track from Lukla joins,you are fit and some what acclimatized as gone over Lumberja Pass 3540 M .No need to pre book expensive air line ticket ,simple purchase bus ticket day before in Kathmandu. No worry concerning weather delays.Bus trip alone is an adventure, you will see why.Very few other trekkers along this route,but they are different from group tour crowds you meet starting Cheplong.Most all independent traveller's,no guides, porters.Enjoy.
