1:03 - _"...made of lead"_ - well, sorta kinda, almost nearly close to correct. With the exception that typographer's alloy (or type metal) was not pure lead, because it, on its own, is unsuitable for casting typefaces. For this you need a somewhat harder metal with low melting point, which EXPANDS when "freezing" - just like water does.. Or bismuth. Or "type metal". Which consist of tin, antimony and lead in various proportions, depending on specific purpose and task for a particular element - but for "typical typeface uses" lead contents may be as low as 54% - or up to 78%, but not more.

Very knowledgeable! She probably knew all that but focused on giving us the experience rather than getting into technicalities that weren’t relevant to the purpose of the video. 😊

@@LocalAromas Well, maybe, but then saying "typefaces are made of lead" is like saying "pizza is made of dough" - and "wine is made of water". Never mind these technicalities like sugars, alcohol, tanins and all - after all wine is over 85% water, right? ;-) So there you go. It would be sufficient to say "type metal" or "an alloy made of lead and other metals" - if one goes into details about "what kind of wood is this block made of" (cherry, AFAIR) then... well, you gett the idea, don't ya? ;-) Cheers!

I think something was lost in translation, they’re not called “alphabets”, they’re known as “fonts”. One set of all the characters (upper case, lower case, punctuation, numbers and any other special characters) in one point size is traditionally a font.
