@@ravon1982 Is this a feature, or a tv show? For features, you might read my book, "The Comic Hero' Journey", as well as Pilar Allesandra's "The Coffee Break Screenwriter." For TV, read Ellen Sandler's "The TV Writer's Workbook."

American sitcoms just aren't funny. The UK has started to adopt the same style of comedy, I'm sick of it!! Do the writers have to wear hard hats and steel toe capped boots while they're experimenting because most of the comedy on TV is trash...?

Jay Kingston I would have disagree with that. I've also found many UK comedy shows unfunny. But for the most part, US comedy shows do tend to be forced. I personally don't find the Big Bang Theory funny but The War at Home was incredibly hilarious. Why? I don't know. The War at Home just felt like regular conversation. Comedy that just comes out "naturally". Maybe because it lets go of this idea that comedy needs to be predictable. Drake and Josh was huge for every kid growing up in the 2000s like me. And that show even for being a kids show was incredibly hilarious.

In my life, I've seen about 2 hours of Jerry Seinfeld material, and it never made me laugh - not once. Now, the chance of me seeing the only two hours' worth of unfunny material Seinfeld ever produced is so vanishingly small as to be not worthy of consideration. Conclusion? Seinfeld made some people laugh, like any other comedian.

lol So.......a guy that has ZERO comedy writing credits, let alone zero writing credits (has he actually even written ANYTHING?), and just runs business comedy workshops; trying to tell others how to write. This is probably Steve's greatest joke. "I've never done it, or had any success doing it, but listen to be. I'm the expert."
