I have just found you ladies a couple of days ago and the last few days have been so blessed by your singing and your interviews.many years ago I was a member of the S.D A church. Now over 40 years has passed and my wife and I attend a u.p.c .now I believe that there is no one church that is totally right nor is there one totality wrong. There are many teachings in the doctorine of the SDA church that I believe to be 100 percent.like the Sabbath being on saturday.well thank you ladies for sharing your wonderful ministry of song.you came at the right time into my life.you will never know what your beautiful God given talent did for me. all I can say is thank you.keep singing ladies giving God the glory and praise.

I must say that even your SPEAKING voices are melodious! So beautiful! :-D My embarrassing moment occurred a very long time ago. When I was about 15 or 16 yrs. old. I was asked to sing a song at a loved one's funeral. I was fine with singing the cherished hymn at the funeral. I got through the first verse (note: sometimes, when I sing I wound close my eyes during singing due to truly feeling the song). Suddenly when I "opened" my eyes I realized that the casket had been OPENED for viewing. I saw my dear Godmother's deceased body right below me (pulpit)...and I suddenly forgot the LYRICS to the song! I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't even HUM!!! I was so embarrassed. I had sung that song so many times...especially for HER! I will never forget that embarrassing moment! But, everyone at my church said, "oh that poor child was mourning, and was overcome with grief". Perhaps, that was true, but it didn't matter to me. I felt like I had let my loved one down, not being able to sing HER "favorite" song at her funeral! Now, as an adult (60 yrs. old) I know exactly "what" happened, but as a youth, I couldn't get over that embarrassing moment. To this day I remember it. But, now I recall it as a fond memory. By the way, the SONG was- Take My Hand, Precious Lord by Thomas A. Dorsey

To Malaika directly ( I hope I got the name correctly) I have also been teased about my eyes and it has had an effect on my self acceptance and self esteem although I am generally cheerful. Your mention of challenges with your self esteem has encouraged me to encourage you. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Lift your head sweetheart. Constantly wear a smile. You see, I am so happy for you and your relationship with God at such a young age. My religion when I was young just filled us all with fear, embarrassment, shame, disgust, and sin. So, sometimes one does not need those things to get through something and it leaves one traumatized. I am so sorry about that with my religion. My Church has sinned and has sin. So I understand that it is not only the parishioners dealing with sin and bad things. The Church needs just as much support and love. The largest part I need to pray for is the leaders of the Church so they do not live in denial or lie and say the sin in the Church does not exist when everyone knows it does and has. We love our Church, but sometimes it has growing pains just like the parishioners that attend. But the leaders need to stand on the rock of truth and then that is the first step for the Church to reconcile. And it needs to. God gives us so many situations to relate to each other and knows we are no one better than any of us including the Church itself. That helps us all move forward with no denial.
