It’s an absolute precaution to not let anyone in a classroom while there’s an active shooter on Campus. Reason being is like that teacher said, they don’t oof the shooter is with her or she is the shooter herself. It sucks but you have to do what you have to do in order to protect your students

In the situation, letting Mariana In is what you have to do. During lockdown if your in the hall or bathroom we are told to go to the nearest classroom

true, until the doors are locked. but that teacher was right, they can't open the door for anyone. for all they know, the shooting could be forcing mariana to try getting into a classroom. as soon as the door opens, everybody in that room is in danger. as soon as a lockdown is announced, you're supposed to go to the nearest classroom. if you take too long though... either run or hide in the bathroom. you're not getting inside a room, THAT'S what teachers are trained to do.

I'm from the UK and we don't really have guns here so correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't they have a policy for kids in this scenario who can't get to a classroom before they pile up stuff in front of the door? Like find the nearest hiding place or try and get out of the school?

I think it that scene the two teens were already outside and she told them to leave. And the reason why they don’t let students leave is because the shooter ( in this case, Nick) could be anywhere in the school, if the students left their class they could run into Nick and they would have be shot and killed, or they could have made too much noise and the shooter would have heard them.

No in a lockdown shelter in place you stay put and get in the nearest classroom even if it’s not the class you are supposed to be in. You don’t leave until emergency is taken care of.
