The Founder of Pick n Pay has passed away.

With profound sadness we announce that Pick n Pay founder Raymond Ackerman has passed away.
A visionary entrepreneur, humanitarian and a great South African.
Our country has lost a brilliant patriot who always saw a positive future for South Africa.

Mr. Ackerman is a one in a Billion Visionary Man with the utmost sincerest Integrity. I live in Port Alfred and at the entrance to our Pick N Pay store there was a Beautiful framed picture of Mr. Ackerman on a lovely wooden table surrounded by two lit candles and a bouquet of flowers which really humbled me! May this Giant Retail Legend and Passionate Man of All Seasons over his decades of extreme success and humane passion enjoy his eternal Rest. What an awesome Tribute Video this is to honor his wonderful and most exceptional Life..............................

My grandfather told me a story about how he meet Mr Ackerman while working at Pharmacy he was telling the Pharmacist that is about to buy Pik n Pay and own it. He got inspired to start his own Supermarket retail outlet in the newly established township back in the 70s.
