On September 4th, 2012, Wei-Min "Al" Sheen died of stage 4 small cell lung cancer. Today marks the four-year anniversary of his passing and the beginning of a movement to better humanity through promises made and kept. Alex Sheen, his son and Founder of Because I said I would., recorded a video today in reflection of an unfortunate event in his life. This video is not edited or polished and Alex didn't really feel like making it. If you have ever lost someone, you may understand the type of thoughts that come with an anniversary like this.
We encourage you to make four promises in honor of someone you know or love. Share pictures of them on our Facebook page or tag us on Twitter (@bcisaidiwould) or Instagram (@becauseisaidiwould) along with #becauseisaidiwould. If you don't have promise cards, don't worry. Just write them on paper. The more important thing is that the promise are kept.
If you need promise cards, visit becauseisaidiwould.com/request.... We have been giving them away for free since Alex's father's funeral and haven't stopped since. Thank you to all of our supporters who take their promises to better humanity seriously.

I believe that you will know what your father thinks of you. I had the same kind of Dad and he passed over to the other side in 2009. It is strange to many people but I have a closer relationship with my father now than I did when his physical body was here. The spirit remains. It just changes form. You can talk to him and he will hear you and if you meditate you will get his answer. It will never be the same, you will always miss his physical presence. I don't believe in regret. I believe everything that happens in our lives is either a blessing or a lesson. We just have to be as grateful for the lesson as you are for the blessing. You have impacted so many peoples lives that I am sure your father is proud of you. Sending prayers and positive energy!

He knows your soul. Your energy and your truth. You inspire me to live and uphold all my commitments big and very small. Sending love and healing energy to you. I have a promise that is big and I could break and few would know but I am going to keep it because i am who I am and I said I would to a person who has passed. #thankyou

Love the story !! They always say losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to you, seeing how I have lost a child and my father and sister , honestly it's all horrible. I fight to keep my promises everyday. But I do. Because I remember all the promises made to me that were broken. ((Hugs))

Thank you so much for coming to my school today. If it weren't for you I wouldn't be here today. I suffer from depression. I feel like life isn't worth it sometimes.... but when you spoke to my school today, I started crying. I realized that what you said was true. You've changed my life.

Alex: Thank you for making this video. Thank you for saying how you really feel. There is an organization that has been in contact with yours that NEEDS you as a volunteer (even if you only do it once). That organization is Comfort Zone Camp. We on this channel are big supporters of theirs and we think you could benefit from it as well as bringing a lot to it. If you're willing to take unsolicited advice, look them up and volunteer with them if you can. It has LITERALLY changed our lives!

Lost my dad March 17th, 2016 from Stage 4 lung and bone cancer. I miss him so much. I understand the pain that you're feeling right now. Try not to get down on yourself or the way things are. Focus on your accomplishments and positive things that have come from them. The rest is not really worth your time. Love yourself like he loved you, he would want you to do that.

Dear Alex, You are right, my friend.....I did not know your father and I cannot say with any certainty how he feels about you and your accomplishments over the past four years. What I can say with certainty is that every life matters, and the fact is that you have not only positively affected people's lives....you and your message have absolutely saved lives!! Those lives....those imperfect people.....are living every day and they are making a positive impact in this world. Who knows, Alex? Maybe one of those people will be the person who discovers a revolutionary way to generate power....or cure cancer....or prevent violence. As important as those things are though, hundreds of thousands of others will continue to make an impact on the people around them every day.....and quite possibly they are giving others who are paying attention a unique glimpse of what" a life well-lived" looks like. No matter how much we would like to know for sure that what we do truly matters, the fact remains that sometimes it is easy to feel that we aren't making a difference or that we are the only person on the planet who is sincerely committed to following through on our promises. All we can do is keep our eyes forward and try to keep putting one foot in front of the other, because looking around at everyone else (in their varying states of imperfection) only serves to increase our feelings of inadequacy and frustration. I have lost several very dear people in my life and I know from personal experience that grief isn't something you really get over....But, with time you WILL get through it. Much love and light to you.....and I sincerely hope that you feel better soon.
