Key of G. John Dee Kennedy, fiddle; Brad Leftwich, guitar. Recorded by Linda Higginbotham in Pawnee, Ok. in 1983. Photo is of John with an unknown guitar player in Ralston OK, courtesy of Carol Kennedy Hendrix. We know of no other source for this tune. John Dee Kennedy (1914-1997) was a self-effacing man who, in his prime, was considered by many to be the best breakdown fiddler in Pawnee and Osage counties, Oklahoma and we felt lucky to have found him. In a generation where most of his contemporaries were playing Western swing, bluegrass, or Texas contest-style fiddle, John perpetuated an older family and community tradition that can be traced through the mountains of Arkansas all the way back to eastern Kentucky in the 19th century. A CD of his music is available from the Field Recorder's Collective.

I remember those old Peavey columns. Peavey stuff was made in U.S.A. in those days.
