The frame filter press is a set of knurled boards and frames, equipped with handles for handling and hanging on a supporting structure, separated by a filter cloth (cloth) and compressed by a pressure of about 15 MPa. The frames have openings for supplying suspension and filter fluid separately.
How it works
The slurry is fed into the frames, distributed on both sides, the filtrate flows through the sheets into the plates and is drained through them while the filter cake is formed from the slurry on the sheets. After filling the space within the frames with the sludge, the inlet of the suspension is closed and a washing liquid, most often water, is introduced into each second plate. The latter passes through the two adjacent frames, where the cake is washed, into two adjacent plates from which it flows. Then the frames with the plates are removed from the supporting structure and the sludge is scraped off. After cleaning it is re-suspended and compressed. (Wikipedia feed)

Rámový kalolis je soustava rýhovaných desek a rámů, opatřených držadly pro manipulaci a zavěšení na nosné konstrukci, oddělených od sebe filtrační tkaninou (plachetkou) a stlačovaných tlakem cca 15 MPa. Rámy mají otvory zvlášť pro přívod suspenze a filtrační kapaliny.
Princip funkce
Suspenze se přivádí do rámů, rozděluje se v nich na obě strany, filtrát protéká plachetkami do desek a odvádí se jimi, zatímco na plachetkách se z kalu vytváří filtrační koláč. Po naplnění prostoru uvnitř rámů kalem se uzavře přívod suspenze a do každé druhé desky se přivede promývací kapalina, nejčastěji voda. Ta z desek prochází přes oba sousední rámy, kde promývá koláč, do dvou sousedních desek, odkud vytéká. Poté se rámy s deskami sundají z nosné konstrukce a oškrábe se z nich kal. That was awesome! I used to work in a winery where we had one like that. I think it was an Italian model. The thing was a monster! Cleaning those pads and setting it up to filter wine took hours! I was the Cellar Master and Assistant Wine maker. I had to keep all the equipment in top working order. We also had another on that was the size of an automobile for filtering thousands of gallons! Great restoration. Takes me back! Cheers from Oregon USA!

You need to explain what this thing is better. To those who don't know, its a machine that separates solids from liquids by squeezing it out. Sure, you could use it as a wine press but its used for other things too like getting oils out of certain types of leaves, filtering slurry water for re-use in mining etc etc. Look it up if you don't know...

The Presses that I used were much larger. We used it to filter impurities out of pharmaceutical products. We pre-coated ours with carbon and diatomaceous earth. Some used electric compression motors to seal the press. Our presses were at least 12 feet long.

I worked at a Crystal Sugar plant 50 Year’s ago and a large version of this filter was used to filter sugar water from a slush of sugar beets and some sort of emulsion agent. Really hot and messy to change the “diapers” used as filter elements. A hydraulic cylinder did the clamping.

Um . . . Fantastic work. I wonder what it is? I read your information from Wiki, and understood the words just not the way they were arranged. Oh well! Watching you work is worth the time! I could have done the take apart piece. About 1/4 of the way through cleaning the parts I would take a break for the night. Next morning something “Fun” would come up and the other 3/4 would be put off until the next day. Years later, after bumping into and tripping over the pieces I’d get it done roughly. No memory of which fasteners go where. Finally, finished. It doesn’t quite look like the picture I took in the beginning, I wonder where these three bolts go? Then there is this round do-Hicky that seems too badly bashed up . . . Did I make a new one? Oh well, it’s done and I can put the big box of extraneous parts under it for the salvage man to pick up. Seriously, this an awe inspiring job! The stop motion photography of you ordering the parts to move and stack themselves was fun. Great sense of humor!

Listen: Place I worked at had stuff like this and if you knew the types of Shyte they were filtering through em.....you wouldn't have handled this with bare hands...
