In November, it will be two years since I began rollerblading. I was also introduced to downhill (the main discipline I'm practicing). The first ~9month I didn't feel so much my body, their was so much to learn. After, when I began to feel my body I noticed that when my both feet are joined I was unable to bend my knee. I feet lean to the exterior and when I balance straight my leg were not aligned and impossible to bend knee. For months I forget that and thought it was maybe my technique. I heard about frame adjustment but I didn't try (lazyness ? Skepticism ?). Last month I was injured (so lot of free time) and I changed my frame. And during this change I tried to put the frame more to the external. And It is MAGIC ! Now I can bend my knee with my feet joined and It change everything ! I'm a little angry because it would be more convenient to know that before but now I'm happy and I don't feel I break my joint while bending !

how wide is your stance when you check the correct frame position? shoulder width apart? close together? I think if you have your feet wide apart, you will obviously fall on the inside edge and pronate. so what's the correct stance? thanks

Do you always adjust the front and rear of the frame at the same time, by the same amount? Or, is there a condition where you might move just the toe end of the frame or just the heel end of the frame?
@thorupviktor4 жыл бұрын
That's a very likely scenario! It's actually the case for my ice skate setup as well as my inlines during the indoor season :)

thanks for the video but around 7:20 there must be more options than A and B, it sounds like it must be either A or B, and all the fault lies on the skater. I politely want to suggest more options : C) you may not have been born with the bone / weight / geometric alignment, and you'll pronate even after trying A And B and that's ok. D) manufacturers may be providing too small of adjustment range, just because that's the standard and making it more adjustable may imply more material cost hard to justify. Just sharing this idea. I know many skaters putting heavy blame on themselves and on their 'technique', to the point that they've / I've tried many exercises to see little too non improvement. am I the only one in this situation? .

Thanks for the input! You have a great point here! As for sports in general some are simply more genetically suited than others. When it comes pronation, some will inevitably have to put in more work and adjustments in order to "fix" the issue, than others. One can't change their bone structure, but can strive to strenghten the supporting muscles in order to maintain an elsewise unnatural position.

Excellent video Viktor, thank you very much. I need advice for my long track (LT) side to side alignment. I have seen advice recommending alignment with the top of the 2nd toe or between the 1st and 2nd toes. I have an issue "feeling" my edges on LT, not so much falling in or out. I don't have this problem so much with short track setup. Suggestions welcome. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing these great information! I would like to buy a skate with 100 mm frame, 4 wheels. I only used 80mm until now. Which brand I find 4 wheels with 100mm skate ? Thanks!
Hi Viktor! I'm wondering if you could help me: Once I tighten my axle bolt down (4/80) inline frames the speed of the bearings slow down drastically. 1. I have - using digital calipers measured many spacers and found only a few that would change how long the wheels spin. I have Seba and Rollerblade frames. I cannot get the wheels spin longer then 10 seconds. 2. I've cleaned the bearings - drastically using bearing oil, speed cream etc. and no oil to test. Any advice? Best, Greg

Thanks for your video which I found very interesting. But the frame on my left skate of my K2 Kinetic 80 mens skates falls to the outside causing me to constantly adjust to keep my ankle aligned with my shin which in-turn causes early fatigue and my skate lace to loosen. But my frames are riveted to the boot. What can I do? K2 won't help. Thank you.

Thanks for this, question tho, do you always need each wheels at the end to be a bit smaller than the inside ones?

hi, can i ask a question? What substantial differences can there be by placing the shoe further forward compared to the frame? I had put it in the middle before and it was fine on long road but cornering and starting off was bad. Now putting the shoe further forward, it's fine at the start and in the corners but in the straight I feel difficulty in pushing, could it be or is it just my impression? A thousand thanks

Nicely explained bro... Pls explain what's 165 mount n 195 mount... What's the advantage of both mount.. N what age category or Boot size can mount both... Thanks bro... Love from India...
@thorupviktor4 жыл бұрын
That's the distance between the two mounting point under the boot. Most skates are made with a 195mm mount. The 165mm is mainly for kids or people with very short feet :)

My issue was that my cuff was too loose. Once I got my cuff shaped and up against my ankle most of my issues disappeared. Just sticking your foot in the boot when it’s warm won’t always get that cuff tight enough. I had to put the cuff in clamps without my foot in the boot and squeeze it down a cm smaller than my ankle.
@thorupviktor4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input! I have actually had that very same issue with some custom ice skating boots, which I solved the same way. Alternatively one can use barefoot booties such as these: topskate.dk/en/collections/accessories/products/simmons-dr-ankle In some cases (mostly beginners), it will be necessary to switch to stiffer and higher cut boots to gain stability.
