Very thoughtful review - when you break it down like this, I can sympathize more with people who aren't fully impressed with the reboot. I'm more interested in his moment to moment dynamics with the characters and the jokes - and certainly I see those coming together well, especially as it goes on. Its certainly got a lot going for it. I feel like your rework could work pretty well, certainly Frasier running a podcast is at least a great inevitable premise for an episode - but I also suspect this Frasier reboot is rethinking its dynamics - Olivia ending up with Moose, David being paired with Alan more as the season progressed, etc - and those are good choices. Its probably a show more willing to evolve and change than the OG Frasier was. I've been watching it start to finish - partway through S4 - and there was so much change in Season 3 - largely retconned besides Nile's divorce, but still. Its also a show where Frasier is more frequently not in every scene... which hurts it, but is maybe essential due to his age. I almost think had they done this reboot back in, say, 2018, we'd have a very different and maybe better reboot. Maybe Mahoney would have even had an episode before he passed. What a thought.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I also liked those developments. Something I didn’t touch on here, but 10 episodes just isn’t enough for a three camera sitcom. I think higher episode counts help the writers get their “reps” in, and they’re not as inclined to do too much with each individual episode. It also helps them get more time to explore different character relationships. The actors always denied it, but they’ve teased a reboot since at least around 2014. Certainly would have been no interesting to see, especially if a lot of behind the camera talent returned

Was there only one series of the revival?

So far. Hasn’t been picked up for a second, but it likely will
