I have an in ground swimming pool half full of free wood chips, a flock of ten laying hens, and between 10 to 30 colony meat rabbits. I put every bit of scrap food in the pool (meat, veggie, starch, etc.), most yard clippings, and grow tons of leafy greens just to feed the rabbits and hens with (in addition to pellet feed).. Ton's of worms, mycelia/fungi, plus fertilizer from the chickens and rabbits. Rabbits can't dig out of the concrete pool, but can tunnel in the wood chips. The rain water that collects in the pool and ferments under the wood chips (probably close to a thousand gallons of compost tea at times) smells sweet and pleasant. The chickens drink the dark brown compost tea at times when they scratch down deep, and I've never had a problem arise from it.

Thank you so much for recovering JADAM principals and in your setting like pastures. Would not have thought of ash in JLF. Love hearing the local ingredients to us. Really appreciate your reiterating this on a mid farm level as well as garden. You are aninspiration answer for me. Love the blue truncheon. Go Marco

Good work on the spreader. If you want to get more precise on application, get some nozzles so you can measure the amount of liquid going out + speed to get your total.

I've got an old plastic brewing bubbler I've been saving not sure what to do with. i'm totally going to put that little bubbler out in the garden and start brewing some high nitrogen juice. This is a great little starting platform of info for my next science project out there this season. Thank you sir.

Cool watering big fields like that organically is rare, I’ll check your channel to see if you have results posted, I’m sure it helps. I didn’t know liquid organics could register as EC/ppm, that means they registered as mineral ions dissolved in the water, surprising. Yes those pens are used for hydro chemical fertilizer usually.

Tough it out haha you get used to it. I wear gloves because if you get it on your hands the smell sticks. Vinegar + lemon gets most bad smells out from anything I've found.

I have a bin full of various garden trimmings but the issue I have is that it's buoyant so it's difficult to fill with plant material because it just spills out the top
@NaturesAlwaysRight
@NaturesAlwaysRight Жыл бұрын
Try 50% plant material the rest water and don't fully fill the container. A large heavy plate like for weight lifting with rope attached to remove can help.

Hi, thank you for another video. I imagine I’d have to read the book for better understanding but one hears often compost needs to be aerobic for unhealthy microbes don’t proliferate. Would not KNF approach promote more pathogenic anaerobic microbes as it uses anaerobic decomposition? Forgive me if that’s something I need to research more on my own but it’s a question which pops to me when hearing the approach. Cheers
@NaturesAlwaysRight
@NaturesAlwaysRight Жыл бұрын
We are just utilizing different sets of microbes depending on context. Thermophilic composting should stay aerobic. But the idea that anaerobes are bad for soil is just reductionist nonsense. Not harping on you just the "Experts" that refuse to understand this. Is an animal dying and decomposing in the woods bad for the soil? Are the anaerobic microbes that process the food in the gut and intestines bad? Of course not. Anaerobes and facultative anaerobes and fungi are all throughout the soil, air, even our bodies. Balance and a holistic approach as always are key for any biological system. Soil science is incredibly new and God's design is infinitely complex. Observing and mimicking patterns of nature will always be superior to any science no matter how much it can help us learn specific things, in my opinion.

Sure if it's something you're throwing away. Anything can go in there. Great to have a barrel going all the time so if you don't want to throw it in a compost pile it can just go in the JLF bucket.
