This is when freestyle was in! The partying we typically did. Then the cruising in Whittier California. The low riders, mini trucks with hydralics! Noel had borrowed my VHS camcorder that day!

To all the Mexicans in Whittier, I want to say thank you. I miss you so much! Thanks for the wonderful memories. I'm Arabic living in Jordan now. While I was in school, I met some of the coolest people in Southern California, mostly Mexican Americans that showed me so much love (especially the girls) . The cruising Whittier Blvd to Mr. Jays in El Monte. Thanks for the fun and freindship. Back then our cultures got along great, I pray the next Arabic kid that ends up in Whittier makes freinds with good Mexican people like I did. Mexicans are hard working good people. I'm married with children now, when I tell the stories of Whittier and the pretty girls, my son wants to study in California now. Take care of my boy. Greetings from Jordan.

Making generalizations like that makes you sound idiotic. At any time of the day there will be young people out at the mall, park, etc. All you older folk over exaggerate technology usage. Older generations always talk shit on newer generations, it's ALWAYS been that way. Your parents did the same thing. Socializing never went away, it just changed form. You make it seem like nobody goes outside or talks to each other in real life, which is completely false. Take off those rose tinted goggles.

A lot of us 3rd generation Mexican Americans or chicanos are mistaken for Paisas nowadays for some reason. Unless you're not an ignorant White dude from Orange County that thinks every Mexican they see is an illegal most of us americanized Latinos can see the difference. Having grown up in Whittier with 90% of my friends being white I've learned to make fun of the paisas who stick out like a sore thumb in cities like Anaheim and Santa Ana.

Spring of 89 is where my life really changed. I was still in elementary school , my style of dressing changed, Jordan 4s were a game changer for me (couldnt afford them, but wanted them bad) i started looking up to the older homies, i was kicking a** in sports, girls in my class were really starting to look good, and I wanted a lowrider ,the music was great and i wanted to go cruising every weekend. Glad I was able to live in these days!!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I also plan on watching all your other videos you uploaded from the 80s some other time. I watch videos like these alot because it's probably the closest i'll ever get to a time machine. I'm 16, i don't like my generation, it's pretty shitty to be honest. My biggest regret will always be that i wasnt born in the early 70s so that i could experience the late 80s and early 90s as a teenager and young adult. Not much i can do about it though, lol. Thanks again.

bro you got the right mindset. i felt this comment deep in my soul lol you’re prolly like 19 now and i’m 22 and i feel the exact same way. i wish i could’ve been born in the 70s as well to experience this time period. social media and our phones have sadly become the downfall of our generation and we will never get to experience anything like this unfortunately. it’s all about views and likes nowadays.

I'd say the same for you, I'm living in the 50's, the American Graffiti days, when we had real American cars with chrome and hot rods and cars were easier to soup up, and no electronics, and rock and roll and rockabilly and doo-wop, we wore our levi's to fit. and rolled our cigarettes up in our sleeve and cruised all night long, and you could get away with stuff in the late 50's, we use to run away from the police and they had just as much fun as we did. I guess times really have changed if were calling the 80's old.
