@@AlexCatable I think all of us kinda agree, none of the endings are good: all have consequences. The biggest problem with the standard ending is the Erdtree and the Greater Will. The Will is a selfish god that only seeks its own gain, and has forced the world into a state of neverending death and decay. The Erdtree forces souls to be recycled, meaning no creature can ever truly rest in peace. Each ending has you take up the role of Elden Lord, as you watch over this painful cycle and continue it. Ranni’s ending isn’t any better, as she just leaves the world to rot. The frenzied ending, though dark and obviously evil, isn’t as bad as you think. “No more births, no more sickness.” Burning the world down forces a hard reset, curing the world of its death cycle and letting everyone rest in peace. The Greater Will burns, and the pain ends. But, it is not necessarily the end. Just a reset. Some god may come back and revitalize the world, or it may start itself. (Melina was still alive and Leyndell was still standing, so clearly the ending doesn’t burn everything.) Bad ending it may be, I find myself choosing it each time because I sympathize with the frenzy. Melina doesn’t deserve to die to satisfy the Greater Will. The Merchants never deserved to be buried alive for their beliefs. The world doesn’t need to suffer under Marika. But, that is just my viewpoint. My “lesser of two evils.”

My compliments! In my opinion Melina gave her most poetic lines in trying to stop our "wild curiosity" from dragging us further down that dark pit. The (literal) falling into madness and chaos

My favorite thing about Elden Ring's endings is that they all give you cause to wonder if you're doing the right or wrong thing. There are arguments for each one, but none of them appear to be objectively bad in that sense. Seeing the entombed merchants, learning of the apathy of the Greater Will, the obsession of the Demigods to the detriment of everyone else... it scratched that Nihilistic itch for me. It made me feel that I was truly ending the reign of terror and suffering of the Lands Between while also resetting the world for a better one to be born from the ashes. Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder, and this ending was tragically beautiful to me.

What people dont get is that there is NO RESET after the frenzied flame. It burns everything away, no rebirth. End of the cycle.

How long until that very same life you speak of no longer exists because the very land itself is unable to sustain it? With the flame of frenzy I give the world a chance to start anew. yes the land will be destroyed, but with all that oppresses it gone it gives the land a chance to heal, to do as a Phoenix does and rise from the ashes more beautiful than before. new life can be birthed, life that will not know the struggles of what was and will only know the hope of what can be. Beautiful video! On my first playthrough, I accepted the flame of frenzy, then burned myself, then got rid of the flame of frenzy and ended up choosing Ranni’s ending. So I didn’t have to do the Flame of Frenzy ending, and I didn’t have to burn Melina either. Take THAT, Shabriri!!

And yeah, not only did he get played, but when you first meet him in the Mountaintop of the Giants, or wherever it is that he’s taken over the body of Yura, after he yells out his “LET CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!” I killed that fool right then and there. I was pissed about him killing Yura and I was not about to let this bastard run loose in The Lands Between, shouting out that nonsense everywhere he went

Damn, ninjas cutting unions, this touched me to the core and made cry so much. It was a perfect short story delivered in such a well crafted way that with enough background (aka a bit of berserk) it's legendarily emotional. What an ending!!!! GODDAMMIT, to sacrifice yourself to spare the one you love just for you to be hunted by the same person cause she doesnt accept your choice is such a masterpiece ending, especially with the dialogues that are chosen, it could be a cold fact said before, or a cold twist at the end, but by developing an emotional connetion between them it gives a HUGE heartbreaking weight. It's a battle you dont want to see. "I will hunt you forever", "a death you cannot escape", those quotations of berserk together with the perfect mixing of Guts, Skull Knight, Casca and Griffith just mark you forever. It's one thing to get inspired and another to reuse elements in a way that makes the themes hit deep and increase comprehesion with an alternative end. I didnt finish berserk or played elden ring (but i doubt their relationship it's THAT emphasized in the game, it's just me picturing them as Guts, Casca and Griffith) but this feels like a PERFECT alternative ending of berserk, and it's rare for me to see an ending that enhances the story, here it feels like a unique whole, take the ending twist and the story loses impact. PERFECT (painfully underrated) video and song choice, i was gushing about “the game” but this production masterpiece it's what sold that, THANK U for not using a voiced pop or famous song but an instrumental, this song in particular was on point.

I like how the Shabriri sells this ending to you by making you out to be some hero for "sparing" Melina and buring yourself. But actually, you are robbing her of her purpose and plunging the world into chaos. Something she absolutely doesn't want to happen. The only reason she allies with you in the first place is to get her up there, and she can be the kindling. I just find it funny is all. Especially the fact that ppl actually think that they are "saving" her.

i hope they add back Kalè's merchant questline in shadow of the erd tree, that labyrinth of merchant corpse' on the way to the three fingers always gives me chills and id love to see it more explored in the lore

When I beat the game I debated on the Frenzied Flame Ending or The Age of Stars and I just didnt feeling like it was right to burn the world I thought everyone deserved a chance to make a choice of their own so I sided with Ranni (Dont worry Frienzied Flame was my second ending because i needed to finish that questline)
