The Fugitive primarily relied on practical effects rather than CGI. The film was known for its impressive use of real stunts and models, especially for the era. The famous train crash scene, for example, used a full-size locomotive and a bus model that was actually destroyed on a real set. This scene was shot with careful camera placement and real explosions rather than digital effects, which made it especially impactful and memorable. Although some minor digital effects might have been used for touch-ups, the majority of the action scenes, including the iconic dam jump by Harrison Ford’s character, were achieved with practical effects, camera tricks, and stunts rather than CGI. The reliance on physical effects contributed to the gritty, realistic feel that The Fugitive is still known for today.

The amount of sass at 6:20 is extraordianry. Gerrard could have just had his badge out ready to go, but he wanted to establish dominance at the crime scene. It really sets up his character within the opening minute of him being onscreen as the Javert to Kimble's Valjean.

*All right, listen up, ladies and gentlemen, our fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground, barring injuries, is 4 miles per hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, hen house, outhouse, and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him.*
