The Fuji GA645, is it just a glorified 120 point and shoot, or is it worth adding to the collection?
In this video I explain why I bought the Fuji GA645 (zoom), the types of frames I use it for and if I'd recommend it.
After a brief hiatus, I am back feeling more refreshed than ever and ready to make videos, comment down below any videos you would like to see!

Ohhhh god, I love love LOVE my GA645Zi, but I will say it has been such a roller coaster. I had some serious heartbreak with it, as mine died maybe 6 months after getting it because of that dreaded ribbon cable that's in the hinge of the door. I've since gotten the camera repaired, and it's still one of my favorites. If you haven't come across this advice yet (I know you said you saw a few videos on the topic) but just in case, several people have told me you shouldn't let the door open all the way when you're loading film, as that will ensure that ribbon cable doesn't get stressed and eventually break. Hopefully that helps prolong the life of yours!! Best of luck with it!! I hope it brings you much joy. Happy to see your vids in my feed again.

Good to have you back and hopefully feeling fresh! I was asking Sophia Carey about this camera a few weeks back. Photos look great that you’ve taken even if some were more challenging

Great to see you back! I've been drifting away from film a lot lately as I just moved to Newport on the East Coast of the US. On the one hand I am doing my best to try and learn how to take epic seascapes with 10 stop ND filters and the like. On the other I no longer have even a pretend darkroom and so, yeah, developing from a lab is expensive. My favorite photography purchase recently was a 28-200 lens. I love the longer lens. Everyone seems to think fast primes are the way to go but shooting landscapes in bright sunlight or with a filter where you want to stop down has completely changed my mind on this. Hope to see more of you.

I love my 645! It's become my favorite camera because it makes it so easy to do medium format.

I got the Fuji GS645 for travel (because it folds and is less than 1/3 of the price of a Mamiya 7). The portrait orientation of the rangefinder is weird and I definitely take many more portrait-oriented photos with it than I did before. I recommend it though for travel if you're looking to switch from the GA645. You get the manual control back, amazing form factor, and pretty good image quality from it.

Great to see you back Madison! Lovely review. Really loving my Mamiya 645 Pro TL. Bought it and never looked back. Great travel camera as well and I love how it slows me down even more and personally I believe 645 is all the medium format size I need.

Loved your explanation of the GA645 being sort of too easy! I find myself thinking the same way about pretty much any point and shoot for the most part

Good to see you back! Breaks are super important, or as I call it "cocooning." I have the slightly older version of that camera and despite thinking I'd probably just trade or sell it away, but it keeps surprising me and I love the size and weight (or lack of it). I already shoot most of my stuff in portrait orientation, so it kind rocks for me. ha ha. And as far as film prices go, getting 16 shots per roll is wonderful.

glad ur back. Totaly agree with you about the automation, it seems to work with 35mm but I wouldnt rely on it with 120 film, the depth of field is less & shows up dodgy focusing much more. You wouldnt have had those blurry shots if you had set it manualy. however the shots that did work were very good . i suspect it is the low light that the camera struggles with. keep it up and i would love to see some portraits maybe at the longer lens setting.

Will definitely give more portraits a go with the different focal lengths! 😁

Great video. I love the idea of a “120 point and shoot”. My only concern is given the age of these cameras and all the electronics involved, including the lens extension motor, they are going to be more prone to failure than fully manual alternatives. Doubly so given Fuji’s dubious reliability in this era. Guess I’ll have to stick to my fujica 6x9 unless I find one of these cheap enough to be worth a gamble.
