After watching countless Fujinon 27mm lens reviews, this one has convinced me. You showed the potential through masterful storytelling using photos. I was tired of looking at charts and hearing chromatic aberrations and sharpness which in the end hardly ever matters for me. Fujifilm should thank you.

Superb viewing. The 27 is a gem. A couple of years ago I spent a couple of days in Paris. With my XE3. I brought several lenses 23f2, 18-55. 16f2.8 which had only just been released. However the 27 was the one I connected with. Needn’t have brought the others. Unobtrusiveness, image fidelity and also the focal length - great for square format - make it a versatile champion.

The 27mm (40ish) is a really fantastic focal length. For those who aren’t used to it, it might feel a bit strange at first because they can’t decide if the lens is a wide or a standard, but just give it some time. The focal length really grows on you and becomes natural. I shot for years with a Pentax 40mm (full frame) and is really unique and rewarding, the 27mm Fuji is no different

Hi! I just discovered you and i feel such a calming effect watching your work. I’ve been using an xf27mm with my XE1 for 2 years now and it’s my only set up. I came from a 16mm equivalent but really wanted a Fuji camera that was pocketable and didn’t want another fixed lens camera! I’d like a wider perspective but with the 27 it’s so compact and usable and I don’t even use a lens cap so it’s always ready. In all weather too as it’s not WR but i just pull it out my pocket! Most importantly, 2 years in and the images, when you get that 1 shot! Makes me happy… Thanks for making videos!

You inspired me to switch from Sony to Fuji! I sold my A7C and ZV1 and got an XPro 3 and an XT4. Got the 50mm, 35mm, 27mm and 16-80 lenses. My one worry is autofocus when vlogging. I don't do tons of crazy shots but am still noticing its not as good as sony. any tips for auto focus with video?
@KaniNarci3 жыл бұрын
get a fuji lens with the letters LM in them, it stands for linear motor and is meant for the newer autofocus sensors like in the xt4
@serr3 жыл бұрын
For me the auto focus for talking heads have been working flawlessly. Make sure you have eye detection on, it’s really able to track my movement. You can also find videos where people go over the best focus settings for each lens, so you can try that if it’s still an issue for you 👍
@FrankDavalos3 жыл бұрын
I would say do your best to not compare it to Sony autofocus. I own both systems too, and the reality is that Fuji just doesn't touch Sony's autofocus. But for what it lacks, it makes up for in colours, and joy of use... while the Sony system is pretty much uninspiring. I look at fuji as a camera, and Sony as a tool.

@@FrankDavalos this is so true.. why not own both systems @Volksgeist ? you can choose your fav qualities from each system (im saying this because you can afford 2 flagship fuji cameras so owning 2 systems will not be a problem for u..) im a fuji + olympus user :)

I am most of the times not impressed at all with the photos of most photographers on KZbin but I really really like your photos serr! Cinematography is superb anyways. As an owner of an X-E2s with the old version of the 27 and an X-E4 with the new version I can say that this review is spot on! Aperture ring and WR are huge upgrades and AF is much quicker and more reliable on the newer body. Buying the X-E4 with this in the kit version is a no brainer. I have lots of Fuji glass and prefer the XF35 f2 for rendering but the size of this lens and the stealthiness (like he also said) is soo convenient.

27mm is *the* standard lens. There is a reason it’s a go to for a lot of old school DPs. 1917 was shot almost entirely with a 40mm.
@serr3 жыл бұрын
Wow, didn’t know that, thank you! Might have to try the focal length out for filming.
@VariTimo3 жыл бұрын
@@serr Yeah it’s really weird too. I shot a lot of 35mm (50mm full frame) because I was told it was the most natural focal length. But what happened was that my shots were often a bit too tight because I place the camera at the distance I want the audience to feel to the characters. 1917 really got my into rethinking and re-researching the topic from a cinematographer‘s point. And the fact that 27mm is ever so slightly wide makes it feel more like your in it as a viewer, without distorting faces and distances in any meaningful way. I also noticed than that the 35mm is actually flat in terms of perspective. That makes it feel more like a portrait lens. It doesn’t squish things together like longer lenses do tho. I also like to use 20mm a lot (30mm on full frame). But 21mm is where it’s at if you want to represent a scenes as undistorted as possible. And it’s really great for putting the viewer in the place with the characters.

I pre-ordered this lens and received it in the first batch sent out from Amazon. I love it. I use to vacillate trying to decide between the 23mm and 35mm Fujicrons and now this lens solves that dilemma. The one weakness for me is the minimum focus distance. I shot a ruler with this lens and the 23mm f/2 at the closest distance possible and the difference is pronounced if you like tight shots of things. Still, this may not be a big deal for street type shots. Mine has been on my X-E class bodies since I got it. No regrets.
@seanokana3 жыл бұрын
the difference is that the 23 is not sharp at the closest focus distance.. the 27 is sharp at nearest focus distance.. so when you have to step back with the 23 they have just about the same focus distance at peak sharpness.

I sold mine because of the painful haptics, but the (stealth) X-E4 + this lens may be the most beautifully minimal Fuji camera/lens combo there is. Not like the other's arent stunning as well, but the clear lines of this ones are just so appealing. In shutter or aperture priority, it may also be the stealthiest and quickest street photography setup.
