Simon is what makes Dorna's coverage watchable. An extension of us, yes, but also a better rider than we (I) could ever hope to be. God praise Simon Crafar.

Simon commentates with no bias so I can only see the other teams wanting him to have a ride. Best thing for MotoGP too.

I FUCKING love Simon dude. He's hilarious in the sense that emotion really doesn't ooze out of him but his PASSION for motorcycles, second to none. That old school riding position on a brand new factory Ducati made me chuckle. Gonna be hard to top this bucket list experience. Lucky dog

He is not just one of the most underestimated greats he is a great guy. In Kiwi speak he shares "Mana tangata". That is the greatness of family, people, the sharing of his strength an knowledge. He has mentored young Kiwi's, taken them in his home and backs all the young riders. He has not had it easy as he had back badly broken by a dumb driver in a road accident. A true Kiwi hero. Arohanui Simon. You make me proud to be a Kiwi.

Amen. Totally agree. I was not a fan of his at first. His delivery was slow and his hesitation to talk made me think he had nothing to say, and that he was even self-conscious of short comings, like his slow, staccato delivery, and that it wasn't connecting with fans. While I think its true that he wasnt connecting, and that he was painfully aware of it, and as the other commentators waited for him to get out his ideas, already extending their patience for a sport based in insane speeds, it just made everyhting even more awkward. I think most people in that position, that far disconnected from the expectations, would fold. However, he seemed ever determined to try and connect, organically, with everyone in teh paddock, giving anyone from the lowest paid mechancis to Marc Marquez the same respect, deference, and consideration. WHile he hasn't necessarily imropve much on his slow delivery, his earnestness and the evolution of his questioning and listening has risen to a sort of art that is his adroable siganture. To be sure, Im just asshole enought to not let him get away with his earnestness and politness alone. I woudl totally be boycotting his ass if he didnt advance his craft at all and become someone of signifcant value to the MotoGP experience. Im not the most patient or tolerant guy, and woudl probably be doubly angry if he kept his job merely out of pity, but taht is not the case at all. He stayed focused, remained true to his heart, and constinuosuly worked at getting better at his role despite all the doubters. Strangely, I just realized how much I've came around to him. Just the other day I was listening to one of "The-Race" MotoGP Podcast." I didnt read the preview of teh episode so I didnt see that Simon Crafar was a "Special Guest." AS soon as they mentioned hsi name, I felt a bolt of excitement that I got to hear him get interviewed, and what his insights were, and how he woudl react with zero of the obligations he has in hsi role at MotoGP on teh weekends. And boy, did he deliver. Six months ago, I would have immediately skipped over him. Im glad I grew up

Incredible video, just love hearing and seeing Simon in these types of videos. The only thing that comes to mind is, are these new, highly electronic moto gp bikes , "easy" to ride ? Is it truz what the media is saying? How come we are seeing "rookies" wining so early in their moto gp starts ? A few years back you would never see such a thing ? I don't know, it seems like the bikes are becoming too electronically aided
