Play both ICO and SotC annually which is probably why I had no problem with the controls of camera but of course I would be lying if said Toriko (Trico) didn't frustrated me at time but than again so did Yorda and Agro.

Nope, I replayed Shadow of the Colossus a few days before this game came out. The controls in The Last Guardian are really wonky in a way I can't put my finger on, and it's not the same as previous games.

It's crazy to know the internal struggles when it comes to video game design. From the outside, it seems like it shouldn't be that big of a deal to complete a game but you just never know the problems behind the scenes. Love videos like these.

I really appreciate Ueda's game designing sensibilities. He panders to no particular market, no publisher's demands for typical repeated game patterns. He doesn't try to replicate the success of any game made from a formula. He just makes the game he wants to make and saturates it properly with silent narrative, environment, and characters that elevate the experience for the player.

I'm thinking that was the core aspect of the game; watching my friend play it, Trico's movement is incredibly smooth with no noticeable transitions between actions. Even when a barrel is placed at a difficult spot, he doesn't clip and initialise the 'eating' mechanic, but stares and analyses his options before adjusting his body around the space. Trico's AI is truly life-like, and soon I stopped seeing him as a programmed rag doll and more like an actual animal. By the end of the game I was attached to him and felt the pain and struggles they were going through (I'm not spoiling anything). Of course other characters had to suffer from lesser attention (such as the boy) and were not as smooth, but they still did a good job.

"No other life inhibits the forbidden land". Yeah besides the lizards mentioned right after, there are also bats, hawks, fish, eels, doves, and tortoises. And on top of the shrine during the credits (or maybe I'm thinking of the PS3 dynamic theme) you can see deer and squirrels.

Hey guys I have a theory about team ICO trilogy.... check it out below. A technologically advanced civilization created mystical CPU of and ancient A.I. that brought fort biologically and genetically engineered creature it then modified and weaponized to bring an Apocalypse upon the civilization by creating a broadcast tower to relay a signal to the creatures which fed the people of the world to the machine to be processed to sustain it and compacted the waste in to barrels which the machine-beast ate for sustenance. The people began a new from the dark ages and what was technology and artificial intelligence began its road in to myths of monsters and gods. The boy became the legendary shaman after his encounter with the Genetically engineered death beast and the mystical mirror which is actually a targeting system for the tail mounted artillery. He then began to hunt down the threats of the old destroyed world. What were monsters were actually man made crimes against nature , both weapons and beast. What was known as Temples and shrines were elaborate and massive military facilities and R&D laboratories. An A.I. that became hostile started collecting all advance weaponry of the world and began its destruction of the great civilizations. With everything back in the Dark Ages the A.I. began to realize that in order for it to stay in existence, it would need the people it was intent on destroying. With such a conundrum, the A.I had no choice but to forgo they extermination of its creators but instead subjugate them by making them believe that it and all the weaponized A.I were Dark Deities that required obedience and sacrifices to appease them so that the population would fear its wrath. After the events of "The Last Guardian" the boy became a man and began to destroy the threats to humanity 1 by 1, until at last he encountered the original A.I. that became self aware and hostile bringing the Apocalypse many ages ago. The A.I. had made itself a bio-organic machine to sustain itself because if it were to give the people of the land enough information to sustain it in full machine form, the oppressed would then have the knowledge to be a mortal threat to its existence. Regular sacrifices were made to the entity, usually small children too weak to defend themselves from the horrors of being consumed as a resource. The Shaman could not fully comprehend the technology he had encountered throughout his quest and use what he found only as much as he could understand. For example using an artillery targeting system as a mirror that shined a light. While exploring a ruin in the last sovereignty to fall to the Apocalypse, he came across massive bio-organic weapons that would be humanities last hope but were too late as the beings were still incomplete and were not activated on time to save the world. The shaman also came across an extremely rare earth element which resonated a unique signal through anything it touches. He thinking only of it as a blessed metal had it shaped into a sword that he would use to fight the master A.I.. After activating the Colossus Bio-weapons he sets them against the Hostile A.I./Deity and consume its consciousness in to the 16 Colossi so that it could never have a singular rational thought to restore itself. But the Shaman Hero never knew of Pre-Apocalypse technology and the leftover remnant of the A.I. still existed in the A.I.'s original vessel, A super computer. Though still aware the vessel was never given maintenance or reparations the many many years after the end of the world, so its capabilities were severely limited. Becoming aware of the destruction of its bio-organic form it stored itself in the facility where the Shaman Hero Emon had sealed away the the idols, which were operating servers, which kept the Colossi in the forbidden ruins of the old world. We now enter "The Shadow of the Colossus". The wanderer goes to the shrine and encounters a voice that passes itself off as the Deity of the Forbidden Lands. After the Wanderer destroys all the Colossi and releasing the hold on the A.I., the A.I. then takes possession of the wander transforming his body into a spectral like bio-mass to take his revenge on the Shaman Hero Emon. The wanderer had enough genetically engineered matter injected into his body from the Colossi in the form of black tentacles due to the A.I Fragments taking control of the Colossi biomass after they were defeated by the wanderer, so that it could start remaking itself with the wanderers body. Before its plan could come to fruition, the Shaman Hero Emon throws the sword made of the rare earth element into a pool of water where at the bottom of it lies a super computer with one function.... to purge all data from the facility should a critical even happen. The sword, also a technological activation key, activates the program which consumes the A.I. and the host leaving only the purest form of Biomass and DNA, The horned baby. The maiden wakes from what was believed to be death but in fact was bio-organic weapon that was introduced to the girls body as a religious sacrifice explaining no appearance of wounds on her body in "the Shadow of the Colossus". The system purge also removes the bio-tech in her body. She then finds the horned baby, whose body is now mixed with multiple DNA structures explaining how a humanoid can have animal features such as horns and allowed when they had kids when the boy grew up, for massive amounts of inbreeding with little consequence populating the sealed forbidden lands. Eventually a new myth began, after several hundred years, that those born with horns were cursed and to be sacrifice to the demon queen who resides in an isolated castle. We now enter in to the tale of "ICO". Horned boy to be sacrificed meets girl also to be sacrificed in here own way. The men who enter the Castle use a sword to access the facility. The sword is the rare earth element material sword once wielded by the Shaman Hero Emon but thrown into the pool to seal the forbidden lands. The castle turns out to be a Bio-tech facility that was created by the Cataclysmic A.I. long before its death. It is the place where it made the machines that sustained the Machine-beast and A.I. of "The Last Guardian" by processing the human sacrifices. The the Girl is a Biological match for the Demon Queen to use the machine to transfer her consciousness into another host giving her immortality.The horned boys were turned into energy but with a byproduct of their consciousness becoming a part of the machines of the facility through the energy they are turned into. And the Demon Queen is the Girl from the alter in "The Shadow of the Colossus" who found the facility and began to use the technology to not die before the baby who was originally the wanderer. The Demon queen has been taking the body of her own daughter and grand daughter and so on for hundreds of years before the events of "ICO'
