Thanks for your service... I heard the best way to stay straight is to stay real busy working. The gym is great, but working out all day means your not making money, this will become a huge stress on your life. Moderation will keep you were you need to be. Stay strong

What a thing of art this episode is, when drew said “I can see the pain in your eyes “ made the hair stand up on my arms because I’ve gone through the same thing, my mom said that I looked sad around my 30 days in, but I felt so good? It’s hard to describe but drew nailed it “admitting that you are an addict and have a problem” if you hold back your emotions time will do work on you and you will break down. But talking about it is key. I’m love seeing stories like yours because life today especially is not easy, I’m 5 years sober and you give me inspiration to keep going. Keep it up buddy! 🤘🏼💪🏼

Also the more days go by and eventually Years you will start to value life and see the light without a substance in your veins to enjoy it. Just know Poopies we are all in a way victims to our own culture. It's been hard wired by media movies and many we looked up to to think having fun or enjoying anything is just not possible without substances of some type. It's total horse shit but this is true. Figuring that out and finding that new clean and fresh you is a special head space to be in and a great thing to look forward to on harder than usual days. Don't be surprised if the evil one does not throw a major curve ball at you now. Myself and many I know when we first get clean a life altering event takes place and most people say man no way I can deal with this new problem sober and they use again. Best way to deal with that is prepare mentally for the worst case scenario you could imagine and tell yourself you will veg through it clean

I quit taking benzos (xanax) 2 and a half years ago and I will never go back. For me, AA and the sober community never helped me. The constant reminder to not do drugs just left me thinking about drugs. So for me just quitting and not looking back has been the best for me. Labeling myself as a drug addict or an alcoholic subconsciously was making me say “welp I am an addict so you know I’m gonna go back”. As soon as I ditched AA and the constant sober reminders I actually got sober. Different strokes for different folks. You got this

@@lronhubbard8580 detox sucked so bad. It took me a year to feel normal again. Started experiencing real emotion again and it was bizzare. But I’m a better person now. I don’t miss work, I don’t get migraines anymore, I don’t drink, I am accountable for myself. Detox sucked but I would do it again in a heartbeat if I needed to get off benzos. But I am never taking another one again

Just to add my bit as a recovering alcoholic /addict- there is a big difference between Cravings and obsessions. Cravings is a physical response to needing more substance in the body- Be it drugs and/or alcohol. An obsession is when the mind obsesses about drugs/alcohol- Hope that makes sense as its a crucial difference

ill tell you one analogy that helped me huge. i found in my recovery i could always hit a point then think i was good to dabble a little and fail. but a recovery person told me this " cravings are like a big black stray dog. this dog is use to being fed, so he knows where and when to go to get what it needs. now over time of not feeding this dog he will come around less and less , but never really completely stop, because there is always a chance there will be some scraps. but if you even give this dog the smallest amount of food. the cycle will start again. and this dog will get more and more aggressive. so no matter how bad you feel for this dog when its at your door , and how bad you want to feed it. you must just wait him out and he will leave again.
