I grew up on a dairy farm near Green Bay, Wisconsin and we used a 1972 David Brown and several Case tractors. Lots of fond memories.

Hi Alan, thanks for this video. I know you have a very full list of video's to do, so just do what you can, as and when! Sadly, I'm the only one (1) watching your video's, as I live alone, and am disabled and can't get out anyway. Look forward to whatever you decide to present next week, best wishes from UK.

Great video , my grandfather had all David brown tractors and when I took over the family orchard I bought a new 1390 4wd and still use it. I still have the last David brown that my grandfather bought which was a 880 implematic 3 cylinder the plan is to restore it one day. In Australia the 90 series were marketed as Case tractors .

(1) great video Alan, as u say there is serious amount of work goes into those types of videos. Uncle farmed with DB all his life and my grandfather traded in his new 35 for a 990 as he had a bad heart and the db rocked much less on the baler than the little 35. 👍

Used to have a 1394, 4wd Hydra-Shift. At the time, the 94 series had brilliant traction especially ploughing and driving in the snow. As standard was an adjustable high clearance rear axle. Hydra-Shift was a way ahead of it's time but slow on the road. Second to third gear took a while to select when cold. Some operators reversed the crank under the dashboard giving up changes towards the driver. Alternatively the whole lever was relocated to the right of the range lever. First gear always had to be selected once the clutch was depressed. Synchromesh gearboxes only had synchromesh between second and third gear. Sekura cabs were big and comfortable with large opening doors but visibility was not so good. Quite an interesting feature was a lever to the right of the driver to select tandem hydraulic pumps to double oil flow to the remotes. 4wd Front axle options were Carraro or ZF.

Great video Alan why did they go with Four digit Model # for 1194 why not keep it as a 885. Looking forward to hearing more about Doncaster Factory and conflicts and cooperation between Meltham and Doncaster.

Thanks. Most likely to align itself with the model designation of Case and IH models in the US.. They were owned by Tennaco at that stage, who owned Case and were making moves on International Harvester. As they were now all under the one umbrella, it would make sense to match the model series designation. Hope that answers your question 👍

I owned a 1980 1490 David Brown Case until 1986 equipped with the DB 4WD option, no cab & a Case66L loader here in Alberta. What a disaster this tractor was---should have been ditched in mid Atlantic rather than its final destination here! In roughly 4000hrs it was out of commission consistently to the point that the Serial number is permanently etched in my memory. You name any component on the tractor---it failed. Speaking to any 1690 owners---a similar experience. In 1986 this was replaced with a Ford4610, similarly equipped---what a breath of fresh air!

Here in the States, the 1690 was known as one of the worst tractors Case ever put on the market. Case dealers were loathe to take them back on new trades as they had little value.
