This is a really great video and it is VERY VERY VERY annoying that there are no subtitles!! We missed most of the dramatic, important speeches and just had to guess what was being said. HOW could you do this to us???

Staggering, tragic, enraging. Very religious people who behave this way, imposing their own human prejudices onto other people are NOT honoring their own God in this crushing of expression ~ which plays out over and over and over and over and over again, everywhere. Destroying the world. Devastating.

The issue of tzniut--modesty is a powerful one. Depicting Jews writhing as though in agony and stripping down to very indecent depiction of the Jewish "self" while reciting lyrics about sacred things as recited as part of the Passover seder, is not "freedom of expression." That which is regarded as holy in our liturgy and symbology but which is depicted in an ugly way is offensive. For once, the government tried to maintain that which is dearest to G-D, unity, achdut. Defying the govt was not the correct thing at that time in that circumstance--not because it was "politicians" but because it was correct to defy such offensive depictions of holiness. It just so happened that the politicians were on the right side of the issue--for a change.
