Thank you, Wayne. He and his friend were a blessing. I had quite a drive to get there / traffic on a Saturday morning... and then upon arrival, got happily distracted by the trains going by, as you saw LOL. So, I arrived exactly at the end of the open house, when folks were clearly ready to get on with their day. The other members there hardly even acknowledged me and wanted to send me on my way immediately. I was thankful that Alex was personable and happy to do a quick tour with me. He was on point with what he shared, and did a great job mentioning the open house days / hours and taking about ten minutes to capitalize on an opportunity to promote the museum. Glad they're getting such nice comments on here, which I'm sure they'll enjoy reading : )

In fact, I just saw one of my best friends in San Francisco last week and he stopped at that museum on his road trip across the country. I would love to collaborate with the Durango Silverton and get back to Colorado. Thank you for the recommendation.

This museum is amazing to see for sure! Overall, Fullerton is a big hot spot for railfans due to the atmosphere there and the train action.

I didn’t anticipate the high level of excitement and the station area itself, which I might show more of soon, was clean and new looking, but with a nice charming style to it. The palm trees and nice condos across the street… Beautiful area and tons of train action!

Good question. Fullerton is just south east of Los Angeles, near Anaheim, where Disneyland is. It’s an orange county, which is below Los Angeles County.

I’ve been doing freelance media production and performing for about 20 years, but I only started Train talk with Lisa May 30 of this year. Whether I'm writing or just doing my everyday things, music is a very vital part of my life. When I'm writing a scene, music sets the tone. Yeah, I can tell you love to dance. You've got that certain energy that just conveys that attitude. I LOVE dancing. Can't help it. It's in the soul. Put on a good rhythm and my feet come alive.

Fullerton has always been a great train watching spot, I grew up about a mile from there and we used to pick up our grandmother at the train station. That was back before Amtrak, back in the days of the classic Santa Fe warbonnet F units. I don’t live as close anymore but I still try to visit a couple of times a year. You’re guaranteed to see 5 or 6 trains an hour anytime day or night. I’ve never been there when the museum was open though. Guess I’ll have to get up early on a Saturday sometime.

In the spirit of more info, the cabooses were eliminated to cut labor and equipment maintenance costs. True there a level of automation now, but nothing beats human eyes and ears… I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned someday in the future to reduce liability/loss.

I don't mind you talking about trains, Lisa. However, I really object to the obvious "Yes, there are trains here, but look at ME!!!" promotion of your videos. Do you really think you'd have as many views if you didn't show us what you look like? IMHO, we're seeing far too much of this in both prototype and model railroading lately. Trains generally aren't sexy. They're nerdy, family and cool for sure; but titillating and fashionable..., nope.

No one person has the authority to define railroading or how it is allowed to be depicted creatively. And I wonder how many of my episodes you've actually watched, as I'm not exactly like a bikini model in a sports car calendar - although I have modeled and love classic cars. I have, in fact, twenty years of high level media production and performing experience that I bring to my series, which oftentimes includes me inviting others to tell their stories on-camera. Do you think that since I film train related entertainment, I should only showcase "nerdy" men, "families" or possibly un"fashionable" women? In my on-camera moments and in the comments on here, I enjoy connecting with my community. And the energy of my channel and that which generally resides here in the comments, is a stark contrast to the energy which you have introduced. This work I do is something you chose to watch, is free to you - and is something you can opt out of without bringing such a comment to this otherwise positive space. There is plenty of alternate train content on KZbin... or you can continue to make more of your own videos in a way that brings you joy.
