Originally recorded in Los Angeles. Rhythm redone in Detroit by the Funks because Berry Gordy didn’t like the feel of the record.

I know that's right! The Funk Brothers!

This was obviously recorded in Detroit, the sound of the slap reverb on the guitars is a dead giveaway, only the Motown studio can make that sound, and that’s the funk brothers, not the wrecking crew.

I hear this is one of the few Motown hits that Hal Blaine played drums on.

Richard Pistol Allen is the drummer, recorded at the snake pit

@@PaulinaAngel Hal Blaine is absolutely the drummer on this tune...NO DOUBTS

@@xstugee perhaps maybe, we’ll never truly know, but the majority of that recording was done at Hitsville USA with the Funk Brothers, none of Hollywoods recording studios can re-create the sounds of those guitars, Motown recordings have a distinct sound to them because Barry Gordy built all of that equipment himself including the echo chamber, which is why the guitars sounds slap.

@@PaulinaAngel No maybe...without a doubt! I am 83 years old and I was there at the time. The LA musicians called it Motown West and included the greatest recording studio group of all time...the WRECKING CREW. Most of the time they did not even get credit for these recordings. Larry Knechtel, Plas Johnson, Hal Blaine and James Burton were just a few of the phenomenal musicians that were part of this. Check them out as you wish.

The late Richard " Pistol " Allen played drums on this .

Not true...this is Hal Blaine on the drums--and I believe this cut was "farmed out" to the Wrecking Crew--and not the funk Brothers.
@jennifursun33036 жыл бұрын
there may be some of the Funks who went to LA on this but...

The song was recorded (at least) three times. The Wrecking Crew initially recorded the original version of the hit single version. Before release, the rhythm tracks were redone in Detroit with the Funk Brothers, retaining the orchestral tracks. The same was apparently done for the version heard in the film, according to the Motown session logs. So everyone's a little right. "Love id Here and Now You're Gone" is an example of a Supremes song fully done in LA by the Wrecking Crew and released as such.
